I heard he fainted also. It is so so important to remain properly hydrated in this heat, even if you aren't doing strenuous exercise
-
• #828
Oh God, that sounds terrible.
-
• #829
emergency services arrived in about 8 mins or less. Air ambulance arrived not long after.
-
• #830
Any news?
-
• #831
The rider is "OK" apparently, his car (nice Alfa) was still at the track this morning.
All we know is he's not too badly hurt -
• #832
That's good to hear Rob. Hope he heals fast.

Ran into someone on an MTB in Peaslake today who recognised me from HH and said hello and seemed to be at the track when it happened. Said it was a sprint at end of session and looked like he just stopped pedalling after crossing the line.

• #834
it was before the line, down by the green crossing strip.
Big patch of dried blood there. -

[/Old fishwife mode] = ON
Chatting to someone on Sunday who seemed to think they had a seizure / fit of some sort, hence the abundance of emergency service attendance.
Is this something anyone asks about, pre induction?
[/Old fishwife mode] = OFF -
• #836
Yes. when you first do an induction you fill in a medical form.

And if you don't tell the truth it may come and bite you on the bum later!
It's all confidential of course.

Bloody school prize giving tomorrow. Last one ever though. Would prefer to be at the track.
-
• #839
Tempted to come down if I can tomorrow. Although I think 50 miles on the road might be more beneficial (and safer!)
-
• #840
Road tomorrow Guy, then sunday morning for some starts!
-
• #841
Going out early on the road tomorrow before the heat get too much. Track next week.
Hydrate well if you are riding.
-
• #842
Before the heat?
April?
-
• #843
Would wearing a hydration pack be taking it too far?
Seriously considering it... -
• #844
what do you mean?
-
• #845
Wearing a hydration pack whilst riding on the track; that way, I can stay hydrated without having to come off the bike for a bottle.
-
• #846
haha
-
• #847
I thought that was pretty tough yesterday, especially with the heat.

Jeebus the pace today was mental for a Saturday. Coaches were really pushing the group along from the warm-up and half lap turns then sprints too. I've done Sundays that were easier than that!
-
• #849
It's been much faster than that in the past!
I don't like doing a rotation at the end. It's nice when the final session turns into a scratch race and you can give it everything. The rotation never really sped up today, we got stuck behind the slow group on the last lap. Was disappointing.Sprints were good though!

what day is the beginner day? Saturday? Sunday is for more seasoned riders to train?
It was hot enough between 10 and 12. Noon onwards must have been scorching.
