Chipped crown race (image)

Thanks for the replies. As it's a beater I don't see myself changing this headset anytime soon as long as it doesn't wear out prematurely. But the next headset I'm fitting will be a Chris King one on my main bike, so I will probably invest in a digital measurement scale to make sure I am not trying to bang on the crown race on to crown where the difference is >0.15mm. I suspect it may have been in the above case, given the amount of force that was required.

for the ck warranty to be valid you have to provide proof that the headtube and forks were reamed and faced before installation IIRC.
