Ok well I've bought an old B17 from Hilary stone to try on my nice bike, going for my first ride later... fingers crossed!
For my cheap bike I'm thinking of trying a charge spoon/ladle, don't suppose anyone's got a white one they'd sell me cheap? -
• #107
i had a spoon saddle but changed to a charge bucket as i found the spoon to boney. i quite fancy getting a B17 but are they really a good as everyone says?
-
• #108
too boney?
B17 fit anyone as the leather stretch and mould to the shape of your arse, also the leather act like some kind of suspension when riding.
it's varies though on the person sit-bones width and shape of their arses, some may like it, some doesn't, best suggestion is to go to a beer meet, and ask anyone who have a B17 to try it out or ask someone here to lend you one to try.

yeah too boney, as in too firm and uncomfortable, the beer meet sounds good whens the next north london one?

Oh it's every weeks, scroll up, and you'll see 'Beers' on the tags.

The one on my friend's pashley was very comfy I thinks it was Brooks B33.
I'm on Swift for about few months, still my bum hurts :-(
-
• #112
Probably is, on a Pashley it's either the B67 or the wider B33, with the exception of that Guv'nor having a B17.
Try out a B17, the Swift is pretty narrow, and the B33 is comfortable due not only to it's sheer width but the riding position.
what's your riding position on your bike with the Swift? is it an upright position or a 'racing' position (don't know what's the correct word for it), i.e. your weight is distributed between saddle and handlebar instead of saddle.

Evening all.
Just wanted to let a few of you know that i have a brand new Team Pro brooks saddle in black, that i would like to sell. My other half can't see herself putting it on her Day One - so i'd like to see it go to a good home.
Size small. £45 plus postage (i'm in Birmingham)
Thanks. -

I love this forum. Perfect. Never saw the women's section before. I'll be back more often.
Brooks B17 for me was the most comfy ever. But the most stealable also. It was taken away from me directly after i'd worn it in perfectly. That for me is the only negative with the brooks.

Check out the Selle An Atomica if you want a Brooks that doesn't need breaking in.

I'm getting on well with my B17 - it's such a relief!!
It was horribly stiff and uncomfortable for a couple of days so I stuck a load of vaseline on it and gave it a break for a day and now it's great!! It's already so much comfier than any other saddle I've ever ridden on and I think it's only about half broken in so far :-)
I can't say how happy it makes me, I stroke it lovingly whenever I walk past my bike... -

edie my girlfriend rode a bucket which she found a bit uncomfortable, then changed to a spoon and found it unbearable, and i just ordered her a b17 the other day! hopefully the brooks will be much better!

THis was the shortest saddle I have ever ridden! I didn't fit it and my arse ain't large. In fact, it's rather petite! hm, is arse feminine in french?

I'm highly recommending the selle italia ladies gel flow slk, can't ride anything without a cutout. Of course, this is a thin, racing saddle, so it's a no no with underroos. But I can't get over how much I love this saddle. Just found one of the remaining white ones online and bought one!

+1, I had the ladies version of the Brooks B66 and had to sell it after one ride 'cos it was so very very short. Brooks ladies saddles all seem to be for super petite people only.

Where did you find a white one? I didn't realise they were discontinuing them, I've been planning on getting one for my touring bike for ages.
