pretty interested, will have to think about dates etc but definitely up for the whole thing ie B'ham > Dover > Calais > Nice > Perpignan on bike.
I have an old record shop days mate in Marseille too... -

Just thought, you'll be on a geared bike, probably won't work, I don't have one and we'd be at dramatically different speeds.
If I buy a tourer anytime soon I'll be in touch. -

Oi! I rode singlespeed Paris to Amsterdam while Mark rode a geared bike, and I was faster than him all the way, even on the hilly bits! I don't ride fast when touring... If I was going to do it on the SS I would choose a ridiculously low gear and average about 12mph....

In fact... we were frequently doing less than 80 miles in 8 hours!

Check out the Catalan Dragons when you are in Perpignan.

I just did 30 miles (Northampton to Leamington Spa) in two hours, followed by another 35 miles (long way home from Leamington Spa) after lunch in about three hours. But my average is about 12mph I think, guesswork really as I haven't put my computer back on my bike...
I think we're about the same.

Still really want to do this but thinking I'm prolly a shite choice to ride with, so might just do something a lot like it on my own, don't know why but I love cycling on my own.

are you ras clarting with joy?

No, ha!
I think instead I'm just gonna fly straight to Nice from Brum, and spend a week there. Looks like there are some good 120ish mile mountainous routes to kill myself on every other day. Every other other day, will be a face-stuffing, beach-sitting, down-lying relaxation day.
Did a broken 100 today (40, 30, 30) and the bike is so nice that I feel the need to keep riding for another 50

...you still doing this?

no im going to nice on the 3rd and just relaxing. coming back on the 13th. doing a few easy rides out from there and back, perhaps 4 out of 8 days (yeah i know 3rd to 13th is ten days... but i dont count flying days as holiday days)
The plan was to go with me pal Mark but he is too skint, anyone fancy it? To get to Perpignan it's a flight from Manchester. Alternatively get the ferry & ride from Calais to Nice...
EDIT:
Perpignan to Nice is just one possibility. Doesn't have to be that. I am up for anything that involves pedaling through France and eating nice food.
Plane to Paris is quicker, from Brum. But ferry means no bike dismantlement...
