• YouTube- Site Inspection of the Cycle Superhighway CS7

    - Jenny Jones has reviewed CS7 and is welcoming comments. worth a look.

  • So has anyone had a go on a Superhighway today? What're they like?

  • what we want is 20 mph in zone 1 and 2 full stop.

During rush hour most traffic doesn't get close to 20mph anyway, I suspect what's really needed is everyone to be using the road correctly. If motorists, pedestrians and other cyclists all obeyed the law 100% there would be no problems.

Apparently there are not enough resources for traffic law to be enforced, or for offenders to be suitably punished, as the road use on display daily will testify.

  • They way they were talking on the bbc this morning you would have thought you could not cycle without the blue cycle lanes. Plus there was some London transport adviser on T.V. last night saying that where bike should be, edited this morning though.

You would imagine that, in an integrated plan, the drain covers would be moved before the smurf-druff was laid down? I suspect the work in the photo is nothing to do with the CSHs.

Manhole covers with tarmacadamed surface on top maybe but you can't be serious about moving man hole covers!

  • Another cycle promo with no helmets by the main person in the feature.
Not rid on one of these routes yet, whats the paint like when it gets wet is there still grip?

  • Saw him going across it at 10 am this morning, bit of a lie in?

i've never understood politicians cycling, as they more often then not have a car following them carrying there crap,

    Fail on them.

  • More often than not? I thought that was just Cameron when he was doing all that spin...

What has cycling helmets got to do with cycling promotion? Why should the main people be wearing helmets?

No noticable car in tow (although with London bridge it's likely they were stuck further back!)... And none this morning when he was leading a bunch of people away from the opening of the scheme... There was a second group of cyclists a little behind that seemed to be mostly forumengers though!

well they wouldn't have a noticeable car would they ;)

in the relems of a scheme opening he probably wouldn't but on the ''commute to work'' that he dose, its unlikely he doesn't have a car following, witch for me says, just get in the car, as its already there, your not helping the cars on roads numbers in any way.

That's generally either for security or to carry their 'red boxes'. Neither apply to Boris, and speaking as someone who works in City Hall (sadly nothing to do with transport) I can tell you he doesn't have a car following him.

  • I was going to say that I remember when cameron was being done for having a car following him someone asked Bojo about his cycling... And he said he didn't have a car following him (and you can trust what a polition says! Particularly a Tory! :)

  • I've seen Boris round and about, there is no car as far as I could see.

Ken used to go to work on the tube, no protection or anything following him either.

Just not something you need/get as Mayor of London.

Don't get me wrong, Boris is a knob.

  • Boris took his bike, as far as I know to get to Clapham to promote the Smurfway (as well as hire bike et all).

if Boris does have 'security', then they'd be far away sitting in a queue while Boris is already at home having a kipper.

today was a bit disappointing, almost no one turn up for the 'ride' on the cycle smurfway, i says 'almost', it's one person who turn up.

  • I guess some of us have jobs to go too! Although I'm pretty sure there was more than just one person in that group I saw you in this morning?!

Did I look ridiculas? Was it the camera on my cap, the polo bike or suit bag on my back that looked the most silly?!

  • I can't remember, there's more than one group in the CS7, mine's at Collier Wood, and decided to merge with the rest of the group up to St Paul as our number is very small (as well as other).

Do carry on looking ridiculous, it make it easier for me to spot you.

  • Huh. just saw me riding away at the start.

Keep your eyes peeled for more forumeanger in the viddy.

  • of course since you you lead the mass of riders on the thin blue lane like a hero festus.

(I was pulled over by a motorcycle cop for NOT riding on the thin blue lane on the way to the launch event )

  • hah, it began...

  • of course since you you lead the mass of riders on the thin blue lane like a hero festus.

u suggesting I'm Schizophrenic? (I passed most of the snappers before any picts were taken- hence my surprise)

what was the issue? They suggesting it's compulsory??

  • It sound like a typical common garden police officer who doesn't realise that it's not compulsory to ride on the Superduperway.

not schixophrenic, a natural leader of men and women on bikes
what was the issue? They suggesting it's compulsory??
no he just 'advised' me that i'd be safer on the superhighway, I asked if he would also be safer going doem the left of a traffic queue on the thin line on his motorbike. He said that he is faster so I explained that I was overtaking him on the right coz I was riding faster than him . He was just concerned for me and was himself on the way to the launch.

I told Kulveer ranger about the incident who said that TFL will be issuing guidance to the police . Wonder what it will say and whether cycling groups can input into it
