  • Inexplicable tactics by Schleck. I can only think that he was on a bad day. Or maybe he's keeping his powder dry for later on in the week. Boardman is right; Schleck needs more time than he has, and Contador is looking as though he is getting stronger relative to everyone else.

Fantastic ride by the french boy. Great to see the frogs winning big stages, instead of being restricted to meaningless transition wins.

  • It didnt look like schleck was having a bad day though - which was strange.

I guess he was just scared of what happen the other day happening again? Maybe he knows he hasnt got what contador has?

A few places were saying it was a stage to suit contador so maybe schleck knew this and is putting all his chips on the tourmalet?

One thing thats noticeable about the pre race build up - everyone said how weak astana were and how strong radio shack are, but Astana have looked brilliant all race and the shack are no where.

Id like to know a lot more about team tactics, like whether teams pin point stages to stick together and let teams like astana have their days in the sun or whether astana really are as good as theyve looked? Also Id like to know where the hell serge pawels has been all tdf?

  • Maybe Schleck has a secret strategy for the time trial, like some micro battery powered motors in the bottom bracket or something ...

  • Well, that was a pretty huge omission. You could say that for nearly everybody here - our respective "biggest thing" might be the daily commute, our club time trials or a polo league.

No you fucking knob, that's not what I meant, unless your commute is watched by thousands?

  • Wiggins admits 2009 was "a bit of fluke", Jonathan Vaughters admits he's lighting cigars with £50 notes and breaks out into uncontrollable laughter all the time.

  • get over it.

whats the point on beating up on people who give their all and try the hardest? He seems like a nice bloke, just the top men got the better of him this year, 18th isnt that bad in one of the hardest events going. I still think he's a pretty impressive person.

I hate seeing people rinse the likes of Henman and Beckham (...... and now Wiggins), why does laughing at them seem to make people feel so good about themselves? They all seem like nice people giving their best shot to something they want/enjoy and none were/are exactly shit.

(Finally, I seem to remember Vaughters being gutted to have lost Wiggins)

Make up your mind which side of the argument you're on. Since the Tour isn't the biggest thing in your cycling life, what is?

  • Wiggo gets my respect, 18th out of that many riders, more balls than I will ever have on a bike.
is anyone else getting tired of Phil and the other ones constant waffle?
some good days to come now in the 'hills'

    Shut your cakehole, knobend

    Yeah.

at least Brad's not a doper

  • Yeah.

at least Brad's not a doper

    Based on what?

  • get over it.

Not laughing at Wiggins but when you come out with comments like his infamous Wigan/Man Utd tweet and hype yourself up as a potential tour winner then 18th is undeniably shit.

  • Based on the fact he's not doping, probably.

    ah yeah.
Im sure all of us on here could kick his arse, undeniably shit, ffs

  • Based on what?

he makes public all of blood tests, medical records everything to prove he doesnt dope.

  • wivgins and sky talked of podium. they are a long way from delivering, hence the criticism. exctly like lance and his "clean" mtiple wins.

  • "and then just before the finish, I followed the cars and had to turn around :-( for the right Way to the Finish. Shit Day :-( "

Obviously no one on here is close to him, but if you talk of the podium and are stuggling to maintain a place in the top 20 how is that anything other than shit?

  • is it somehow bravado for him to have been talking about the podium, based on the previous form, wouldnt most of us want to start with a positive mental attitude, including bigging yourself up a bit.?
I guess if anyone on here could be arsed we could read his twatter account and see what the actual feelings of the man are.
just makes me laugh how people are critics, when they havent got an idea in their heads what riding the Tour is actually like.
apart from Balki, who did it in drag in 2006 of course.

  • Based on the fact he's not doping, probably.

Not this year. You think riders for a team owned by the Sky corporation have any integrity? Ha.

  • and if they had any integrity to start with (they haven't) they would soon lose it and try anything to better this performance...

  • You can get integrity from Sky on a pay-per-decision basis.

  • You can get integrity from Rupert Murdoch on a pay-per-decision basis.

    ftfy

  • it's very hard to believe he's not doing this clean.
it would be so breathtakingly arrogant of him to be doping again, I almost want it to be true.

    Vino isn't cured of doping.

  • One thing thats noticeable about the pre race build up - everyone said how weak astana were and how strong radio shack are, but Astana have looked brilliant all race and the shack are no where.

    Pos. Team Time
    1 Caisse d'Epargne 204h 16' 00"
    2 Team RadioShack + 8″3 Rabobank + 17′ 13″
    4 Ag2r-La Mondiale + 18' 38″
    5 Astana + 26′ 32″
    6 Omega Pharma-Lotto + 28′ 35″
    7 Liquigas-Doimo + 48′ 20″
    8 Euskaltel-Euskadi + 49′ 52″
    9 Quick Step + 52′ 15″
    10 Cofidis + 57′ 08″
    Nowhere, apparently.
