  • I just bought the "Incase Skate Messenger Bag" and I love it. Hella expensive I know, but I'm a slave to design and I've been a skateboarder for over 12 years now so it all makes sense to me. I can highly recommend it to anyone that cares about form and function as much as I do.

  • No-one else from this forum (except maybe Teddy) would buy it. Good for you, and yes, it does pay to be different.
Though for "function", I doubt the Incase Skate Messenger could live with proper hard-core messenger bags.
Surely you bought it to look good, non? ;)

  • ^It depends on the function in mind, I dare say youd be hard pressed to find another off the shelf messenger bag thats as adept at carrying skateboards ;p

  • Actually, I hadn't known this at all. I stand corrected.

The major difference between the Skate Messenger Bag and the Messenger Bag are these Velcro straps used for securing a skateboard to the bag. The detailing of this strap system is really well thought out. The little rubber bumpers on the bag protect the custom weather resistant 1680D nylon shell from being damaged by the grip tape. Since I don't really skate anymore, I never used these straps for their intended purpose, but I did find them really useful when hauling a bike frame home. Or for carrying wheels. There's a nice velcro strap to hold your u-lock, which I never really used. It was always easier to back-pocked it or stuff it in the bag's compartment.

  • Got myself a chrome citizen bag, it seems the clippy in bit on the right hand bit of the strap has been put on wrong, there for you have to twist the material to allow it to face the correct way up?!
Am I being very silly or is it the bag? Anyone had anything like this on any other bag?
I also cant take the clippy bit off to put it on the correct way!

  • this happen with the older model, like mine and yours, fiddle a bit with if and it will twisted enought to go through the clip and face the right way.

  • anyone had or have a royal mail one.
cheap as chips and simple look but as to wherever they would last. im not sure.

I had an RM bag and I loved it, aside from it not being waterproof (but stick your stuff in carriers and you're cool). I would still be using it now if it hadn't fallen apart. That said, I got a couple years of hard use out of it AFTER it had been left for dead in the City.

  • Timbuk2 Hemlock is being replaced on warranty and I'm ordering a Belkbag - Tech Backpack.

  • Does anyone here have a Mission Workshop Vandal? If so how's it working out for you?

I'm currently use a PAC Ultimate, which is just awesome, has the best cross-strap design I've found on any bag, one area in which it out performed my grobag, but an old back injury is increasingly giving me grief, so think it's time to swap to using a backpack.

From what I can see the Vandal looks like the best backpack out there, so curious to hear from anyone who's using one, or if anyone had another bag they'd recommend - though I'm pretty much decided on the Vandal.

This is a massive, massive long shot, but my Grobag was stolen when I got a burgled a couple of years ago. If you're reading this thread the chances are you're interested in bags, it's very distinctive bag, so thought I'd post a pic just in case it's resurfaced anywhere. Please PM me if you have seen it, I'd be happy to pay to get it back.

  • I recently bought a Seagull bags custom Large Standard Bag. I spent £217 on the bag including shipping and paid £38 on custom charges.

The bag is absolutely brilliantly made, the quality of the cordura and tarp is second to none, couple this with the high quality stitching and well thought out design this bag puts others in the shade.

The size of the bag is perfect for my commute and weekend stays. I will keep anyone updated with a long term review if they are interested, but please see the photos attached for now.

Also, yes the colourscheme is vein and matches my bike, but hey, you have to take the comical route through life!

Any questions welcome. Hopefully my photos are acceptable.

  • Not sure about the colours but quality looks good.

  • £200+ on a bag.... jesus

  • Real quality costs money. The bag I have cost an exorbitant £100 when I bought it nearly 18 years ago (seriously, just two more years for 2 decades). It's still in constant, if not daily, use......and for a few years, was actually used full-time for courier work.

  • Exactly. When a bag lasts 10 - 15 years that's great value.

A good quality bag will make your loaded trips by bike safer and more comfortable for years...when you break down £2OO or even £3OO into the number of journeys you use them for that is still a bargain...And yet nobody questions spending £1OO+ on booze and clubs over a weekend? Or thousands of pounds on cigarettes over years.

Like how that was broken down, if I had the money I would!

  • Need a new bag for university...deciding btw:

    Mission workshop vandal
    Bagaboo workhorse
    Chrome berlin
Open to suggestions and looking for feedback :)

Also I'm willing to wait for an archie but I don't know what size bc I can't view his site

    Thanks :)
