What sort of high paced ride are you guys looking at? Where would you be meeting up Saturday / Sunday?
-
• #8
at least 20mph on flat with no wind, that sorta thing. i was quite pleased to be doing 32 on bristol road today, but it was ever so slightly downhill and with a gentle tailwind... i could only manage 26 in the opposite direction. and f*ck me it hurt.
anyway the reason i need to ride on sat is because i'm going to do a very relaxed 4 day ride into wales with this messenger woman next week, so i need to get one hard ride in before that. no puns please aeronaught

could be interested depending on which way you plan on heading of of Brum. If you head south and near where I am let me know and I'll come and meet you.

Ok, any idea when you will be close to my neck of the woods, Knowle, Dorridge, Hockley Heath ? Or if you tell me the route I will try and intercept you somewhere along it.

I tend to head out towards Stratford and either stop at a cafe in Stratford for a coffee of loop round the back of it and head for home.

I'll drop you a text about Sunday pm Gav, i was due to pick up my Cannondale today, but errands are preventing me from picking up my cyclescheme voucher. If i get it sorted it time, i'll let you know.
I've done so many miles fixed this week, i don't think my nervous system will let me climb anything fixed....

Ha! Never will I do long distance fixed riding again... not that 50s are long.
My knees just cant cope with it... plus without brakes its just plain stupid.
Those long descents that could be so refreshing turn out to be your worst nightmare.I am sure there will be many folks nodding to this!
Oh and ggod luck getting your voucher, I am looking at mine as I type. Just waiting for a 56 caad 9 to become instock then I'm on it... problem is... its a triple. I hate a triple.

Good luck.
I hope Dan isn't reading this thread... but I just paid full price for what could be the last Team colourway 63cm Tiagra Caad9 in the country. I really hate the fact that I could have saved about £300 if I had gone for it earlier (or if my boss had had his bike stolen earlier, thus prompting him to sign up to Cyclescheme earlier) AND the fact that it's gonna be sat in my bedroom until I get the correct shoes.
The worst thing is that I only bought it because I like the colour. MUST BE MAD.

Oh and to answer your question! Yeah I think I may be up for a sunday evening ride... but I dunno... on one hand, I feel I should save energy for the Brum to Ludlow portion of the Welsh ride. On the other hand, what's the point of having a bike if you're not going to ride it every opportunity? -
• #21
Right, Aeronaught, lets do this... either Saturday or Sunday. What you saying?
-
• #22
I just got a new chain to ( hopefully ) remedy my slipping chain ( new sprocket/old chain ) so yes... Sunday evening if you are not burnt out.
I finish work at 5.15... quick blast home followed by quick egg eating then OUT. where do you live pastry... Is Moseley a good meeting spot? Im coming from Balsall Heat.
-
• #23
Moseley is fine by me. I live in Bare Wood.
-
• #24
Didn't know we had forests in Brum.
You'll have to tell me where that is, I'd love to check it out. -
• #25
Bearwood! So timewise, you reckon about 7pm? I'd better get eating.
I need a high pace ride on Saturday, 60-80 miles starting at 07:00-07:30. Anyone up for it?
