Steel frame yes? It'd just splay the stays by a few mm wouldn't it?

Yes it would splay them around 3 mm, might this effect disc brake alignment

Oh. I know nothing about disc brakes.

Yes it could affect the alignment. It depends what kind of calipers / disc your using though. Puting the chaintugs in will move the disc inward, there are lots of ways to compensate for this: new spacers on the hubs for a start.
You may not need to do anything especially if you've bought a fancy floating set up like this.

couldn't you just put the tugs on the outside of the dropouts? the quick release will not be snug in the hole (heh) but will this cause problems?

Mks chain tugs aren't designed to be used on the outside. You could but then you wouldn't see the pretty njs stamp. TBH tails you probably won't have any problems.

I see that the thin MKS chaintug fits track ends up to 5 mm, according to Hujub. Is that an accurate upper limit? I measure my Bob Jackson's at 5.3 mm ish. The fat ones look a bit more bulky than I'd like.
Not that I like tugs much in any case, but just occasionally my wheel moves fractionally, no matter what I do.

They are pretty snug on my 5mm + paint. If I can find my verniers I'll measure it and check what that actually is.

So, I got a pair of 8 mm MKS tugs. I thought it seemed very bulky on the track end in terms of width. In any case, the size meant that it interfered with the Phil Wood dome I have on there so I sold them on.
I then got a 5 mm MKs tug which fits perfectly well (BJ Vigorelli) and leaves room for the Dome (I know that with a tug the domes should not be needed - I might revert back to normal Phil Wood washers). This tug works really well and has already helped make the bike more the low-maintenance machine that I had hoped for.
Anyhoo - my problem is this. Does the washer part of the tug go inside or outside the dropout? The leaflet that came with the tugs (in Japanese) has diagrams that do not provide clues. Searching on here doesn't give any clear answers.
Advice appreciated: in or out?I see that the thin MKS chaintug fits track ends up to 5 mm, according to Hujub. Is that an accurate upper limit? I measure my Bob Jackson's at 5.3 mm ish. The fat ones look a bit more bulky than I'd like.

Hi thought you guys might be able to help.
So I have a cotic simple frame and a Hope pro 2 hub. To fit 2 x MKS chaintugs it would splay the frame if I where to fit them inside the dropout as per MKS instructions. If I fit them on the outside of the dropout they will only pull on the quick release axle.
What should I do? I need them on both sides as I have a disc brake to deal with. On a plus note velosolo are very good to deal with.
