I've been almost sedantry in that time. To build up my confidence I started with a few laps in the local park (I'm further east than Viccy park) and then quiet side roads. Once I stopped panicking when a car overtook me (usually involving me stopping until it had gone by) I felt things were 'doable'. I set myself a circular route, originally about 2 miles, and have gradually been increasing every week. I still stop if i feel uncomfortable when things pass me, but little by little the panic is reducing. In essence: Practice, practice, practice. And when you think you're done, practice more.
