it's nice to have two different bikes, a light singlespeed/fixed wheel bicycle and a sturdy 8 speeds bicycle that can handle whatever you throw at it, incidentally I have a similar set-up (but road bike instead of single speed).
I'm not saying that the steel langster is weak, but I doubt it's a great bike for an everyday ride, the alu langster fit that bill better than the steel one.
Do let me know if you want to buy my 8 speeds internal wheelset, it's cheaper than having to get it build at a shop, especially when it got all the necessary part to complete it.
