Wanted: Good quality Chrome forks

Posted on
  • SORTED. THANKS ALL.

    More Need than want!

A friend crashed my old Duell sob The only damage appears to be bent forks. Obviously I'm never going to find Duell forks as an exact match so some chrome forks will do, actually I think they'll look pretty good.

I need 1" 180mm steerer, no mudguard eyes. Have to be in very good condition and Reynolds (at least 531) or Columbus tubed (or any other equivalent)

  • Sorry to but in, (free bump!) I am after some aswell but worse quality and cheaper please.

  • fausto coppi forks,204mm steerer, 40mm of thread, thread is freshly tapped, full chrome, drilled for modern recessed nut brake....

  • those but full chrome

  • Thanks for the offer broken. I'll need to cut about 20mm off I wonder if the remaining 20mm thread will be enough....I'll check tomorrow, but in the meantime have you got an asking price? I'll need them posted.

    Anymore for anymore?

  • after 30 posted

  • Looks like it could work. PM'd.

  • Got the forks thanks broken but alas they not gunna work....

    Still looking!

  • Don't believe nothing has come up in over a week!

  • Then pop round to TokyoFixedGear to get a new chrome fork instead.

  • Yes new would be good and I just see those ones at TFG but they're track forks I need road (if they can be used on the road then they would be perfect!). The only road ones I can find have mudguard eyelets....

  • I'll give them a call tomorrow. I can't see any reason not to use them for the road....

  • Check the rake on the fork though, I'm sure they'll have some road fork, plus I doubt they're track fork in the first place.

  • Sold out!

Does anyone know where I can get new chrome forks?

  • I'm not having much luck with this!! Can't beleive I've been looking for 3 weeks with so little success.

I've had 3 pairs of forks now; 1. The Coppi forks from the forum but I didn't like the arear the paint had been removed revealing mottled chrome 2. A cheap set from another forum but the quality is too low and thir too long (crown to dropout) 3. Scapin pair from Ebay and the thread is shot....No one seems to have a new pair for sale.

I've fitted the cheap ones for now just to get him back on the road but I am still looking should anyone see some or have some. New or old about £50'ish max.

    Cheers

  • can you not just get the forks that you have fitted chrome plated?

Erm...the ones fitted at the moment are the cheap chrome ones. The originals are not useable hence my search for some chrome ones:

This makes me wince every time I see it

  • Thanks for looking Pifko but didn't really want the ALU 2A and the chrome 6A were perfect but the brake drop was too deep. Sold 10x over now anyway. Thanks again though....

  • I have a very nice Tange chrome road fork, 24.5cm steerer so you'll have to cut it down if you need 18cm, no mudguard eyelets and Miyata dropouts

    £45
If your interested PM me and i can sort out some pics.

  • I gave my friend his bike back yesterday with the cheap forks and he was perfectly happy them. So I'll pass on these despite them being absolutely perfect for the bike! Ignorance is bliss I guess....Thanks anyway.
