I'm on the Wirral about once a fortnight seeing my girlfriend who lives in Parkgate. I've been meaning to do a bit of cycling around there and will be as soon as I finish building her bike.

That image was actually Thurstaston which is the next accessible coastal bit along from Parkgate. I do cycle to Parkgate fairly often. If you ever fancy a meet at the Yacht or somesuch then let us know.

Defo, will do! Thurstaston is where we walk the dogs sometimes. Most difficult place name to say ever?

I'm originally from Bebington, living in Manchester now though. I've taken my Langster on the Wirral roads a few times this year as I like to get back to see the folks every few weeks and I know what you mean about no other fixed riders. I guess the fixie craze hasnt hit Wirral yet.

If it makes you feel any better I only realised I pronounced it wrong this weekend and I only was born here. Tis that sneaky S that I never acknowledged. In my, rather lame, defence I have lived away...
There are lots of people who tell me they used to ride fixed many years ago but no one, current, have I seen.
To anyone else who spots a green Grinder with drops around here, has to be me.

There's loads of fixed riders in Liverpool! PM Chickin on here for details.
I used to go for rides on the Wirral on my Fuji Track when I was at uni at Liverpool and it's fair to say there's a lack of bikes in general.

I used to see this chap pootling down to the shops when I lived in West Kirby;

That's crazy. You can't run a lock through the frame or the rear wheel.

I always see bloody hundreds of cyclists on the Wirral.

You see loads on a sunny evening or a weekend. As for the Wirral Way, bedlam. (No, that isn't some kind of local behaviour.)
A couple of miles away from PG you have the Eureka Cafe. I have never been.

I've wanted to go there for ages. Maybe we could spin down for a cuppa one Saturday morning?

Fair doos.
I stuck my number up in Private if you, or anyone else for that matter, fancies meeting up over this way.

I've just bought a fixie today and I'm on the Wirral and as soon as I got the hang of riding a fixie i'll be out riding on it all the time

Leave your brakes on and just get the hang of it on the fly. Going down Caldy Hill should sort it. You will learn fairly fast that way.
On a riding note, i was thinking about trying to kill myself riding to Llangollen, via Chester, Kinnerton, Corwen road then over the pass. Parents have a static that way so at the very least means drinks that night, then cycle back the next day. Be the furthest I have ever ridden fixed and there are some largish climbs, and some scary-arsed descents. Be a laugh though, depending on how well my lungs work afterwards.
Any of the MCG666 crowd fancy joining such a daft plan?

Hey, I know it's an old thread but it's the only Wirral related thread I can find on here and I can't start a new one yet as I'm a n00b!
I'll be looking for some people to hook up with in the future once my build is finish.

Hey up, seems like an old thread but thought I'd see if there's still some interest in fixed gear on the wirral, seemed like there's an absence of fixed gear riders round here until I found this thread.
I live and ride around Parkgate/Neston, would be cool to meet some other local riders.
Anyone here from/live on the Wirral? Went out yesterday and suddenly realised that I know of no other fixed riders and only come across one single speed rider and he lives in Liverpool.
Will accept Cheshire at a push! :)
