eBay and Craigslist finds

This is my first post so please forgive my ignorance - why is this bike so cheap? Is it really only worth about £50 or so? If so, then why?

Seller states that he got it off evilBay for 185, which is not too steep a price considering it is a complete bike. Would not rule out a bid if the price stays south of that :)

Cheers for the comments. I've just started riding again so I'm trying to brush up on what's what - I figured it must be a clapped out bike, but it looks decent to me. It caught my eye there.

Steerer tube seems uncut, 40mm worth of spacers? :)

Which clearly wasn't an option with the seller. 'Used' indicates he rode the bike with plenty of spacers :)
