Ive got a new chain after my last one eventually died, i should have replaced it earlier. i don't have the old chain to measure against my new one. 10 speed ultegra mechs and cassette.
The new chain was far too long, so took out three links so that it was long enough to clear the big chainring - big sproket gear combination. it shifts fine on the work stand, nice and smooth, thought it was job done.
however, when i rode it, i found that it skips when i apply power, especially out of the saddle. i could keep it from skipping by riding gently. The skipping seems to effect the big sprokets + small chainring combination most.
when in the big ring and on the smaller sprokets, the shifting works fine and feels very smooth.
what is wrong here? ive read a bunch of stuff but im having trouble seeing the problem. any help would be greatly appreciated!
