Old Polo Thread

Ok I'm making this a sticky thread. Can everyone please try and voice your thoughts/opinions on all of this. I was taking to ben/yoav about web identity. When you type in "manchester bike polo" to google the first hit is to the polo page on the I bike mcr site.

An old picture of people playing with wooden mallets and no currents players. Then the info claims:

***We play every Monday, Thursday at 6.30pm at the 5-a-side court in Manley Park
and Sunday at 3pm

***Then it says check out the blog for more detail and there is a link to this blog:

Now i like the look of this blog, nice lay out and some good pics, and more importantly relatively up to date information. But again some of the logistical info is pretty vague and conflicting with the "i bike mcr" page:

"When we play:

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm and Sunday from 2pm usually at Whitworth Park opp MRI, but check the Twitter before setting off"

Now the twitter has been a bit of a dead duck, it's not really updated and not really much use IMO.

The second google hit is this:

Again, old and incorrect news. The article claims: "Bicycle polo breaks out twice weekly – Wednesdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 2pm". We can contact Mancubist and either get them to remove it or amend it with new information.

3rd hit on google is ste's site, perfect domain address but the site needs some work.

What i reckon we should do is totally scrap that old info from the i bike mcr website, and get ride of that word press blog. Then start a new blog under the name "manchester bike polo" and transfer all the info from nes's old blog on to that. Because i do think Nes has done a good job on that blog, the right ups are great, so we dont want to lose all that. But i do think we seriously need to disassociate ourselves from "i bike mcr"and just be "manchester bike polo"

So to reiterate i say we just have a main website, we can use the one ste's done but it'll need re-worked. This can have basic info like times/player profiles/pics etc...

And also have a blog with the same identity i.e logos, web address. The blog can be more general. Kinda like the Milwaukee bike polo blog.

Also, we need to one central group on facebook. I believe pineapple has already set this up. But we should get rid of the MCR Dropouts one as this comes up in google search too and it's all just too confused with conflicting information. The drop outs are a team that don't exist anymore, time to move on. If we don't start doing all this soon we'll get left behind by other UK polo communities that are more organised. We don't want to miss out on anything that could lead to funding or sponsorship for the sake of not have a collective identity.

Food for thought then, we can talk about this in the meeting but what does everyone think about this? I reckon we task one person to sort all the web stuff out, like Ste. Perhaps ste and adam could work together on this?
