From the "transmission database" thread, this is my 1984 Pug's setup:
Dotek FG-PRO6-170 + BBUN26 68x113mm + OnOne small flange double fixed hub + Miche1/8sprocket = xroads (42mm chainline with chainring on inner side of spider, chainguard on outer side)
These cranks from the site sponsor are probably the same ones:
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Dotek-Dotek-Single-Chainset-42T-with-170-mm-Cranks--Silver-23131.htmI believe my BB was swiss threaded (see sheldon browns page http://www.sheldonbrown.com/velos.html ), as it certainly wasnt french and neither english. However, the BB-UN26 fitted tight, and with a bit persuasive force, it was "converted" to english threading. It has never worked loose, and I have succesfully removed and replaced it with no issues.
I had to swap the whole headset as the original cups were much wider externally to mix and match. You can knock the old cups out easily with a hammer and chisel/driver from the inside.

I'm not sure if these are the forks (droids!!) you are looking for?
Cheers dude. Those look like 531C to me, so maybe it isn't a PY10, but something similar. By the way, I chatted to Mario Vaz earlier, and he proved to me that my PY10 forks are actually British threaded...
He's offering Columbus-tubed forks which I looked at, cut to size for £30, and he sprays them any colour you want. Sounds good.

By the way, if this is a 531 Professional fork, then please let me know as I'd be interested in it; I just bent mine on my PY-10 a few days ago in a crash.
2nd dibs! I'm after some to go on an old Peugeot.

Hey guys, here's my pug fixed gear conversion. First one I've done and it's a lot of fun to ride. Got loads of useful advice on this forum so thought I'd share the result! Let me know what you think. Cheers.

Very nice FIX!
Big Pug fan and use an old '84 Touriste as my daily runaround
Those rims, are they DP18's, and did you get them polished or did you polish them up yourself?
Thinking about stripping and buffing up the alloy on a pair of silver DP's of mine but nervous that I'll ruin them in the processYeah they're Weinemann dp18s. Didn't polish them up, they came out of the box like that but with transfers. Got them because they're cheap but I'm pleased with them so far.

The Pug will have a 1" fork and headset, and Im pretty sure the Charge whisk forks are 1 1/8".
You can pickup up a new cheap 1" fork off ebay for £15 delivered (just get the right steerer length).
You will also probably need to change the headset, as the thread size is likely to be different (1" tange for under a tenner).if its an old pug then it also might have a 22mm stem, not 22.2

Ha! That's nearly identical to My First Pug™
I still use it as my cruiser bike with spinny gearing and risers. They ride well IMO.
Yours is looking good FIX. Nice one.

I have an old seat post, (which is very thin) and saddle.
Is there a special attachment I need to purchase, and anyone know where and for how much?
-
• #540
...It is 24mm in diameter

my apologise for not responding to your mail, got quite a lots of mails.
you don't need a special attachment, unless it's not on the seatpost of your pug (the bit that connect the saddle to the seatpost), best thing you can do is to go to a LBS and ask if they have any lying around (forgive me for not knowing the actual name for that little thing).
alternatively if you don't have a seatpost, Decathlon have a seatpost that fit Peugeot's unusual size (23.4);

hope this help.

Yer its the bet that connects the saddle to the seatpost, whatever its name is haha.
I've been to many stores and they don't seem to have any spare.
I'm happy sticking to the saddle it came with for the mean time.
Hopefully something will pop up!

It's on the old saddle at the moment? you can take it off the old saddle and put it on the new saddle.

from this:
to this:
-couldn't find a long drop caliper in my shed, so used original front brake
-built the wheels from scratch (took ages)any comments?

put on the mudguard and you'll be fine mate, the mudguard look like it's in great nick and once polished up, it'll look classy.
Don't forget to put foot retention on the pedal if you're riding it fixed.
if it's freewheel, two brakes is a must.

Put on 14T dura-ace sprocket and an 1/8" chain today, and at quarter past 4, went down the road at 40mph.
So thats 99.5 GI, I should be going faster right?a) how fast did you go at say 4:30.?
b) exactly how fast do you think you should be going then..? 60 ? 70? 80.? -

Not sure if this is quite the right thread for this but here goes...
I have a vintage peugeot which im trying to find a bit more about and whether its worth spending some money on converting it. I also currently have a 08 genesis flyer which is my day to day commuter, having had it a year i really enjoy the genesis but my commute involves muswell hill every day and its taking its toll on my knees on such a high ratio....so i was thinking to either add a hub gear to the genesis by sale of the peugot or sell on the genesis and invest the money into getting the pug road fit. so in summary is the pug frame good or gas pipe? i have search threads here and elsewhere to try and id but the frame number comes up blank as do the other sites recommended.Full spec of Peugeot / parts considered for upgrade
Tange 2 Frame / could do with tlc has some scuffs would repaint if could maintain colour decals
Sugino front crank
Suntour Ole gear components / replace with shimano alfine 8 speed hub gear
Strong seat post / keep
Kusuki winpista handlebars / replace with TT or cinelli bull horns
Mavic rear rim / keep
Front rim no id / keep
Original seat /
My understanding is the bike is in its original configuration, have guessed its date as 1989 as that is the year the suntour components went into production. The frame is very light, lighter than my GT but the geometry feels very stiff compared with the more supple ride you get of the genesis (presumably the carbon seat post and front forks soak up some of the road noise?)Any help advice would be appreciated, think i will be selling the winpista as they dont work for me and would prefer bullhorns as i like to sit high in city traffic.
