Using those Spesh Virtue bottles empty along with a hydrobak would still be best aerodynamically, yes?
Possibly, there are so many interactions with your body/position for the Camelbak and the frame for the bottle that the only way to be sure is to test them. Camelbak, £30, wind tunnel sessions to see if it's an aerodynamic benefit, £3000 :-)
The Camelbak is good though, since you can stay in the tribars and drink little and often. That's probably worth more than any aero benefits.

Yeah I was thinking the same, especially since I rarely drink enough.

FWIW - I'm finding the camelbak to be spot on. The ability to take on fluids without having to take your hands off the bars too much (apart from putting the actual gizmo in your gob) is good for me. Win

If all be true that I do think,
There be five reasons we should drink:
Good wine, a friend, if we are dry,
Or lest we should be by and by,
Or any other reason why. -

My normal lack of sleep is now being compounded with a sickening alertness in the early morning. Is this what it's like to be 70*?
*Not aimed at you clubman, although I understand you're a bit older than most posters here. :)

I'm happy to say I've no direct experience of being 70 - although in the first couple of weeks after that recent crash I often felt I'd gone straight into my eighties.
However, I can tell you my tolerance of alcohol has lessened with age and I now avoid drinking the day before any serious riding, and after a hard day on the bike drinking in the evening will cause problems the next day.
I prefer to feel alert on at least some mornings, and I see my practice of abstaining one or two eveings a week as a benefit which I'd lose if I stopped riding.
Incidentally, I'm just beginning to get back on my bike.

National 100 today - very hot and very windy. She finished in 4.11.59 and came 6th. Rather her than me!

And J Shaw won it by nearly 19 minutes with 3:45:22, which would have got her 7th in the men's event. The men's was a one horse race too, with Dr Hutch 15 minutes ahead of second place. It must be odd being really quite good, as in winning many of the events you ride, and then getting stuffed by that much.

Ridiculous rides by hutch and shaw. The conditions weren't (from what I have read and looking at other times) anywhere near as good as their times suggest. mark Arnold 5th on fixed.

I think Mrs S and the other top girls are philosophical about, and largely in awe of, what Julia has achieved this year. Sarah Storey is the only girl to have got close to her, and she is after all an Olympic gold medallist. To put Julia's ride yesterday into context, she would have been 7th in the men's field. It was quite extraordinary in what were very difficult conditions.
Mrs S knows that she can't beat Julia. However, as is the case for all tt'ers, she has her goals (both in terms of timing and result) and this is what motivates and drives her. Next year, she will come back stronger and faster. She still knows that she won't get close to Julia but that won't stop her coming back for more.

I did my first time trial yesterday, put in a 28.58, after 8 laps of the hog hill circuit with that massive hill and coming off the track once! Great feeling afterwards.

This year's 2nd Richmond Park time trial went off this morning. 2nd in the Road Bike category, Xavier Disley, was fixed - great ride by him!! One more to go on 8th August - there are still places left if anyone wants to ride. pm me for details.
Peter Dixon had one of those camelbak things on for the 50. I think they're a good idea but I was trying to avoid the cost.
Hang on, only £30? Win
