• Might be an idea to gauge how much we are all down. Peeps can either PM me the figure if they'd rather stay anon and I'll total it up otherwise post here?

    I'm £85 down inc postage.

  • £300 for me

I do have Mr T Peacock's bank details for the transfer if that would be helpful

If taken to the limit it could amount to theft by deception......

I did a search on T Peacock in York on BT.com for a phone number but didn't get anywhere there

  • Oh dear- the bank gave me wrong info previously - the transaction is only covered if a card is used, there's no cover on a Bank Transfer.

I think a chat with Mr Plod to see a possible next step is urgently required. Those Bank details could be very handy.

  • It'll most likely be a civil matter initially due to it being an agreement between you and seller. Proving he was setting out to fraudently obtain your money would be a bit tricky (doesn't fall under theft either really).

Usually police will suggest you send some kind of recorded communication to seller like a recorded delivery letter and if he signs for and doesn't respond that's enough to prove his intent to not supply goods and it can be treated as a crime. Otherwise it's hard to prove as he may have just gone on holiday etc and been rubbish about communicating such things.

This is all IME and may vary a bit depending on your local police. Good luck and hope it gets sorted.

  • Might want to check with those lucky few who received their goods and see if they have the sender/return address on the package sent. Pay him a suprise visit :D

  • London to York run next weekend anyone ?!

  • I'm afraid the only thing I have is his bank details and email address

  • Yep its a civil matter- from the Bank details it should be possible to obtain an address........

His Facebook pic shows him in working in a bike shop- Yahoo list two in York that I called, plus one in Tadcaster, no joy so far. The bike shops there say there's a number of them in York.

I did send him a message on Facebook- I'll see if he reponds there.

  • Might wanna try http://www.yorkshirebikeforum.com/ and see if anyone knows him there :)

  • Thanks for that one, I've mailed- fixedgearyork@goglemail.com as he's a member there

I'll see how to get his bank details made to reveal his address, although the Bank Transfer was to T Peacock, but that has to be very close to him.

  • Might wanna go for a full onslaught and check if he has any for sale threads in York :) Just bump up any old thread he has there and I am sure something will pop up ;)

  • Velocio advised he's not been on line for three weeks- he did advised Alex's e-mail address.

  • I'm in York - let me know if I can be of any assistance.

  • How about this Alex Peacock

"Since the attack, Mr Peacock has moved to York with his girlfriend Victoria, where he now works as a bike mechanic."

or this fishy seller of aquarium products (see what I did there?!)
http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/php/detail59_128311.php (and a few other listings there)

  • the pic I have is of the bike mechanic- the prob is which bike shop, I tried three already, but did ring the mobile in the fishy ad- should be bingo shortly.

I may well need an address to do the Solicitor route.............

  • His Facebook profile shows that he "likes" Cycle Street in York, so maybe it's them.

  • According to this Flickr account, he volunteers here: http://www.yorkrecycling.net/index.php?id=84

  • ok he might like Cyclestreet York, but he works at Cycle Rescue 01904 733789 and was recognised as the same person in Facebook as works at Cycle Rescue

Cyclestreet have had a number of debt collection letters just recently...................- so please don't call Cyclestreet ! He's a very nice helpful man, but getting very puzzled

Ok since we're in reveal mode- the e-mail address is slim4130@hotmail.com but since he's not logged on here for 3 weeks it may be a wasted exercise in contacting via that method- done it just the same though.

  • Hope you can get your money back El

  • others here have lost out too, so with a bit of luck someone might get lucky, either or he's going to be taken to the cleaners, even if its at a cost.

  • I do hope he gets nailed. Kinda reminds me of a case a few weeks back with that Spinergy wheel on this forum ;) Got tracked down via facebook and got nailed!

Kudos to Velocio for the assistance and ex-pat scot who offered his assistance.

  • Do you mean that cycle street have had dept collection letters aimed specifically at peacock?

  • ok he's at Cycle rescue- 01904 733789 I spoke briefly while he put me on mute- he asked where the mute button was.

I've left my name and number for him to ring me back when he's free- load of blx, he's told his work colleague to say that, and I'm not expecting a call back.
