Local chinese restaurant turned into bike shop

Posted on
  • I was running for dry cleaners so didn't get enough time to have a look properly, but this place which used be a chinese restaurant on Hackney road was now having ss, fixed, and folding bicycles and their boxes all over the place. Though there were still same signs and logos for the restaurant, seemed like they were getting ready for opening of the shop or use it as ebay stock-house or whatever.

On my way back home place was closed already and no one was there, but had chance to have a close look for some of the stuff near the window. They were selling some of ok-ish bikes and Dahon folding bikes as well but I could tell they are mainly after fixed hipsters around the town since more than half of the bikes they displayed were create/unipack look-alikes. Most of the part were made by unknown company all I could spot was the name on the hubs which was Rimnete, Tiwanese company.

Don't know how much they were selling them for but hopefully cheapy cheap, otherwise it would be like stealing money from people like my friend who just started to ride then give up because of the bad experience from his create/unipack bike... :-(

  • Think I road past that the other day, I was somewhat confused as to why a chinese restaurant (still definitely a restaurant at that point) woud have crappy folding bikes in the window.

  • I wish the Chinese restaurant at the end of my street would turn into a bike shop.... it's not much good as a restaurant.....

  • Hope this will prevent anyone from this forum getting ripped off by them.

  • Confused, is it still a Chinese restaurant?

A Chinese restaurant *and *bike shop would be wicked, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Garlic and honey fried chicken, egg fried rice and a pair of Sugino 75s please.

  • maybe you can eat the cranks and chainrings if they are made of cheese?

  • Are they Miche?

  • How much do they charge for Arrospok?

  • It was a bloody terrible chinese restaurant. The Silver Star on Cambridge Heath Rd was streets ahead in quality.

The bikes look like Creates to me.

  • i might have a peking when i pass next time

  • Wok are you going tofu in there?

    Fixed

  • Some nice puns, but it looks as if everybody is Chinese too bashful to go in there. I really hope people will create more reports.

  • MSG received and understood.

Can't com you right now, annoyingly.

  • There are already noodles of bike shops in London, and now we have yet another.

  • oliver.... stop!

  • He's on a (pancake) roll, I don't think he can(tonese).

  • Sriously though, I am about to eat a pineapple fritter. Mmm.

I hear Shanghai in Dalston is good.

  • I hear they do a good chris king prawn chow mein.

That really would be cascading torrents of awesome.

  • can't go wong with a chinese/bike shop

It's all about Silver Star... though the Hong Kong cafe on Hoxton St is very good.

  • Never tried The Silver Star before even though they are literally 5mins walk away from my flat. Now I can say I already know what I'm gonna have for my dinner today.
