Friday - can't sleep, try and "dump" pasta, am too excited I can only manage some pitta (wholemeal). Maybe going to the cricket at the Oval wasn't the best preparation
0945 arrival and some likely chaps cycle past me as I stroll up Swain's in my flip-flops..I ain't doing this 25 times
Lap 1 PGM goes past as I start, that means 7mins a lap - he's clearly smoking crack
Lap 7 this really hurts, dropout makes me fall over on the ascent, immediately back on the bike
Lap 9 Mikey5000 bombs past, no hands, hitting a high C on some disco track
Lap 12 give myself a clifbar as a treat. Man this is thirsty work
Lap 18 everyone's left the hill - sure Texas went past on the pavement on the descent (I got caught by traffic on mine)
Lap 18 need another bar - man, the stomach is sending "real empty" messages to the brain. The bbq looks like it is finished - really should have had more last night
Lap 19 delirious, I think I have 5 left, Sarah tells me 4!
Lap 21 it is 1400, where did the morning go - that lady at the bus-stop has been out, got her shopping and looks like she's had some afternoon delight too. consistent 10mins/lap from first to last
Lap 23 the "go arvy" scrawled on the hill is keeping me going - maybe I should have gone faster
Lap 24 power lap - out of the saddle for the first time
Could do it again, but as BMMF said, "Swain's is dead to me"
Thanks to the following:
Many many thanks to PGM for the ridiculous post no 1 on this.
PGM was in his *pain cave *when I started my first lap (7mins after he did).
To Jung (look, he's smiling! because he is a freak!)
Gears
To these gentlemanly geared riders Jamie, Polky (5er), & FridayMarch26th for his barcode tattoo. Mikey5000 for the chat on lap 9 (his 12th) and bombing past me singing "Diana Ross" 6pt for coming back to complete it, respect.
**Fixed
**To the following fixed riders Texas (I stayed in the saddle by the way) & the ridiculous shirt swap that you considered Sasmon for possibly convincing his daughter not to be scared of me Macca81 for his salt BMMF for scaring me
You will note the **true North representation **in the fixed finishers and entrants
Mccarthy for sleeping in (again) The tandem! Middleofnowhere for his 4 (16!) laps Donut! (his backside) for the video (forthcoming)
Spudger for this shot and his support
Absolutely anyone and everyone (Lush, Mrs Lush and Good Matt! lyes888, JD) & Cake (and Papa Cake!) who came and supported, made flapjacks, didn't give me squash when I asked for it or just had a happy smile (looking at you DMCzone). Also thanks to Robby Highgate Coops (non-forum mate) who popped by as well as the Flask for their hospitality.
And Jung - I think 18 laps of Regent's first, 24 of Swain's, then 6 power laps of Regent's finishing on the Broad Walk. But you are a mentalist.
