  • 8 cm my good man , hope your not gonna carry a ruler around to find a post that fits 8^)

  • I can fit mine round the narrow bit (so that is about 2' 6" - 3' off the ground after it tapers in) of most lamp posts with a bit of jiggling.

  • hehe I am going to bring a ruler into work tomorrow and have a look around at lunch time for a suitable place to lock my bike ;)

Tommy, is that wheel + seat tube + lamp post? Sounds good..

I've always used the rim-only-within-the-rear-triangle method, cos on my Inbred, the clearance between rear wheel and seat-tube is large. You might get both rim and tube together if you're running a 700c wheel with thin tyres and fag paper clearance.

  • Would anyone know the best place to get one of these?

Parker International comes up on Google as having the best price, but no stock.

  • Neil, I have a brand new one that is surplus to requirements. I bought it in Condor the other day because I forgot to put my lock in my bag on the way to work.

  • That is very kind- How much would you like for it?

  • i recently got a mini fah and for the first time actually had a good look at them both together. the mini looks like tootpick compared to it. and feels a lot lighter.

  • What surprised me was the way the lock has a curved bit that goes into the shackle, as I had never seen anything like that before. Perhaps it makes it more difficult to break open? I don't know.

    .

cheaper design, as you don't need to have two locking pins. This design, however, allows for thieves to cut the lock in only one place and get to the bike. When there is a locking mech on both sides, you can't just cut it in one place because the lock stays largely intact. You usually need a second cut.

for what it's worth, my brother uses this lock, and I find it to be just a bit too small. It can be difficult to fit over the wheel/downtube/pole mess of the pole is biggish, and if you (in a pinch) need to lock two bikes to something, it's really a bitch.

All security ratings hoopla aside, I find my On-Guard Mini to be a more functional lock. It has dual sided locking mechanism which, in theory, is safer, and also it is just a tiny bit bigger. It easily fits over the wheel/downtube/pole in most situations and easily locks two bikes to a pretty solid piece of pole.

still this is certainly a solid lock and easy to carry around.

  • There are some indian traders down brick lane west side near the old tunnels selling new york locks for only £25 they had quite a few on sunday.

  • im really confused
right now i a fuck-off abus cable lock ( not the best i know)
am i right that there is a fah, fah mini, mini evo, new york 3000, and they all look the same?

  • Sorry folks above post should read evolution locks £25 they didn't have the mini versions there ny locks were £35 I think

  • joe, no you are not correct. www.kryptonitelock.com

    evo mini

obviously no scale in the pix, but they are all quite different sizes/weights

  • Hey everyone,

new to the forum, fairly sure this hasn't been answered yet.

What is the maximum diagonal distance inside the evo mini as i'm looking at one for a front wheel/frame lock. i need 14.5cm +. i did a bit of paper construction with the dimensions above and think it'll be okay. Anyone up for checking it for me?

    Thanks

  • Edit: nvm I clearly wasnt looking very hard since I failed to notice the allen key bolt.

  • joking?
