I'm a massive fan of paclites, I've had one in some shape or another for over 10 years. A lightweight longsleeve t-shirt solves breathability problems most of the time. Cut is way more important though. I never had a cycling specific paclite but of the brands I've had, i've been really impressed with marmot, mac-pac and savier (now defunct), slightly less so with my northface flight series jacket - but I've still had 2 of them!
Event stuff is meant to be ok, patagonia use it. I've found that with all waterproofs ("breathable") i've owned they are never as breathable as you would like them to be when you are really thrashing on. Incedentally I was told paclite is meant to be the most breatable of all the shells goretex offer.
agree, my gore paclite is good but don't breath enough when i ride, don't know if anything that's properly water proof do though? But with a thin merino under I don't mind, it regulates the temp really well
