Do you think you could read it, digest and provide a 200 word synopsis? I'm very busy

  • What am I? The forum historian on VED?

    don't start what you can't finish :-)

You seemed to think bicycles were exempt based on emissions so I mistakenly thought you may have actually known a thing or two about it.

  • Alternatively, I used to run a pair of Campag Ventos on my cross bike (which I also commuted on) and they were utterly bombproof. The drawback with these is, if they do go out of true, you might need professional help in truing them.

What tyre size were you running on the Ventos Andy? I've just put some 35c conti 'cx speed' tyres on my old Khamsins for commuting, but haven't ridden them yet, bit worried that they'll turn out to be too wide for the rim, although they seem to look ok...

  • I think the widest tyre I ran was 34 mm. I think most, if not all, cx tyres are designed to fit standard road rims so you should be okay.

  • Cool, I'd read some things online that suggested that running campag wheel for cx would be dodgy for some reason, so I'd been getting visions of them rolling off the rim going round Waterloo roundabout, but that's reassured me.

  • I think the rim manufacturers err on the side of caution (can't blame them)

I have been running 35c Ribmo's on a couple of rims that are supposedly too narrow for over 6 months with no issues at all, and a Ribmo is a true 35c (i.e about 5mm wider than a CX 35c I compared it with!)
