I hit a car this morning (with my fist, intentionally) to stop the silly bint in it driving into me. It worked.

My normal ride in this morning standard leaving time of 8.10 – where were all the single speeds and fixed gears? Through Walthamstow (none expected here really), Stamford Hill, Stoke Newington and Dalston, Angel, Gray’s Inn Road – 2, maybe 3 single speeds only. My only conclusion must be all this freezing weather and hard summer rain was simply too much for you this morning. Roads mostly clear. Few fluors on Bromptons looking tough and that was about it.
This must be why we see pretty bikes in the classifieds that say ‘never ridden in the wet’. Or generally. Your bikes are not bikes - just an affectation of your LDN lifestyle
I’m not saying it’s you LFGSSpeeders who weren’t out riding this morning (I reckon a fair share were) but to fixed gear London in general: you’re made of origami. Your hearts pump Kool-Aid
Is it just me or does anyone else also wanna slap this ignorant cunt upside his stupid fat American head*?

go figureMy hair became coiffeured due to riding in the rain (getting it wet) and then drying it out when the rain stopped. I am still sporting a bit of a blow-dried look.

Tomorrow, I'm supposed to be cycling 10 miles, due South through Suffolk, on my way to a festival. On a fully laden touring bike.
There are (very strong) winds forecast in the 25-35mph range.
Looking up these winds on the Beaufort scale, I am getting a bit worried. Should I be? I intend to take as much HTFU as possible, but want to make sure that I'm not doing something pretty stupid!

erect a sail.
and put your feet up.

• #1919
25-35 is about force 3
it goes up to force 12
i think you'll be OK
just ride in the tuck positions where possible -
• #1920
people have ridden and survived in stronger winds

Man up.

Serious question: If you're riding due south, and the winds are against you, why not consider using a different station and ride with the wind, or less against the wind? You using Darsham Station?
-
• #1923
Man up.
This. Suffolk is flat and you're only riding 10 miles. Who knows, you might have the wind behind you..
-
• #1924
Or perhaps Halesworth?

Yep, the wind will be with you if you use Darsham tomorrow. Turn right off the a12 soon after Darsham, through Westleton, past Dunwich to Blythburgh, back on A12 for a bit. Easy.
the rain was lovely this morning. I quite enjoyed it. A driver even admitted he made a mistake and let me pass.
