I'm sorely tempted. Except that I know it's a teeny bit large. Probably.

Hilary, is the DE VOS ROAD FRAME c1991 suitable for a six-speed or eight-speed groupset? Dibs if that is the case.
-
• #17
Yes the De Vos is still available and with 130mm rear spacing will suit 8/9/10/11spd gears perfectly.

GEOFFREY BUTLER ROAD FRAME c1989
Seat Tube (ctt): 22.5in (57cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 21.75in (55.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 45mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531C
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This a low mileage (I would guess less than 500 miles) road frame built from Reynolds 531C tubing. The frame is in excellent condition with just a few small marks to the paint. Despite having mudguard eyes clearances are typical close road racing. It will make an easy conversion to singlespeed or fixed. £175
MAL REES CHALFONT ROAD FRAME by Bill Hurlow 1963
Seat Tube (ctt): 23in (58cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22.5in (57cm)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 27s or 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 55mm
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Bill Hurlow built frames are really rather uncommon - this frame he built for Mal Rees dates from 1963. Bill Hurlow made a name for himself outside of the cycling world as well as within it and is the only framebuilder I know who has been recognised with an obituary in the British Financial Times. It has his signature curved chainstay bridge as well as the gorgeous clean cut fancy lugs which are immaculately brazed. I rate Bill Hurlow as probably one of the top two or three of the post-war British builders - his work is truly beautiful and accurate. This frame is in very sound condition though both the forkblades and rear stays have been overpainted in white. Although almost certainly built for 27s this frame is ideal for use with 700C wheels as the brake drop is a reasonable 55mm with 700C or sprint rims. I can deliver it free of charge for the successful bidder to Argos Cycles who I consider to be one of the best frame painters in the UK. I will supply a set of Mal Rees decals with the frame. Details on Argos’ prices can be found at http://www.argoscycles.com/renovation-pricelist.htm £575 SOLD
VAN HESTE ROAD FRAME 1980s New and Unused
Seat Tube (ctc): 56cm
Top Tube (ctc): 56cm
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop 45mm)
Frame tubing: Columbus Aelle
Bottom Bracket Threads: British
A very cool frame built from Columbus Aelle tubing - it has never been built up and is NOS but it does have a few small marks to the paint - these are not noticeable. It will make a simple fixed or singlespeed conversion. £125 SOLD
DE VOS ROAD FRAME c1991 New and Unused
Seat Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 27s or Sprints/700C (brake drop 43mm)
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Bottom Bracket Threads: British
De Vos was a small Belgian bike shop (at Handzame) which closed in 2008 that commisioned frames from a local builder. This is brand new and never been painted new old stock road frame built in Belgium - the 531 fork is used but perfectly matches the frame - both for steerer length, fork offset and for brake drop. I am not certain of the tubing used on the frame - it may be Reynolds, a previous De Vos frame I had was built from a high end Vitus tubeset the 27.0 seatpost size indicates it’s a high quality butted tube set. A great chance to get a frame painted the way you want it. I will supply a set of De Vos decals. Its ideal for singlespeed or fixed wheel use. £65 SOLD
MINERVA ROAD FRAME 1980s New and Unused
Seat Tube (ctc): 48cm (19in)
Top Tube (ctc): 51.5cm (20.25in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Brake drop front with 700C wheels: 52mm
Another new and unused Belgian built frame. which has a very cool paint job and is an unusual small size... Its in excellent condition with virtually no shopwear marks. And would make a really easy conversion to singlespeed or fixed. £125 SOLD
ROAD FRAME Tange No1 Double Butted Tubing New and Unused
Seat Tube (ctt): 58cm (23in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 124mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 52mm)
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Frame tubing: Tange No1 Champion tubing, Reynolds 531 forks
The origins of this frame are not known but it is built from Tange Champion No 1 tubing as used on the high end Koga Miyata road frames. It comes complete with a chrome plated Dawes road 531 fork which perfectly matches the frame - both for steerer length, fork offset and for brake drop. The paint has quite a number of shopwear marks (and a very small dent to the down tube) but is perfectly useable. A great frame for a budget conversion. £65 SOLD
NOT A COLNAGO ROAD FRAME c1983 Belgian built
Seat Tube (ctt): 55cm (21.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Rear dropout width: 124mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 55mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This frame is NOT a Colnago... But it is a nicely made road frame almost certainly made in Belgium - just take a look at the well finished lugs with the unusual diamond shaped windows. The frame has quite a number of marks and a ding to the chainstay - the frame alignment has been checked and is fine. Its obviously built from a high end butted tubeset - the 27.2mm seatpost size is a clear indication of this. It would make a very straightforward conversion. £95
VITUS 979 ROAD FRAME late 1990s
Seat Tube (ctc): 50cm (19.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 53cm (21in)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C (brake drop 45mm)
This is a rather good Vitus 979 road frame from the late 80s - its in very good condition but the glued on front shifter bosses have come off and a previous has put a couple of screws in the down tube to act as as a stop for down tube levers with a clamp. I do not think this will cause any problems... All in all it weighs just 2.2kg including fork, headset and seatpost! A bargain at £95 SOLD
GRANBY TAPERLITE ROAD FRAME c1938
Seat Tube (ctt): 20in (51cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22.25in (56.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 110mm
Wheel size: 26 x 1 1/4in or 700C with brake drop 48mm
Granby can make a reasonable claim to be the first of the British lightweight frame builders - being almost certainly the first British frame builder to build in the new style with smaller wheels, ten and a half inch high bottom bracket and brazed up tapered seat and chainstays during WWI. Granby is however more famous for taper tube frames which were built from 1925. Taper tube frames were built in search of the Holy Grail of a 'stiff' frame. This frame which dates from the late 1930s is in exceptionally sound condition. The Chater-Lea headclip has been rechromed and it has a Chater-Lea light bracket included. It must be remembered that frames pre-war were used with much shorter handlebar stems - typically 3-5cm... I can deliver it free of charge for the successful bidder to Argos Cycles who I consider to be one of the best frame painters in the UK. I will supply a set of Mal Rees decals with the frame. Details on Argos’ prices can be found at http://www.argoscycles.com/renovation-pricelist.htm Correct decals are available.

WITCOMB ROAD FRAME
Seat Tube (ctt): 24in (61cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22.5in (57cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 27s or 700C (brake drop 58mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
This Witcomb frame which has been hand painted appears to be in very sound condition. And will make a very straightforward fixed or singlespeed conversion with the minimum of work. £65 SOLD
