awesome ride. claire and vicky a big thank you for organising, and thanks to everyone who helped lighten the load by eating my sack of flapjacks. couldn't have had a more beautiful day, sun, views, food and people. ditchling was really fun - the half i rode and the half i walked. next time ditchling...next time i'll be ready... and i won't be on 44/19...
regarding the getting lost incident - i was kinda acting as backstop at first. at some point i sped up to try catch the front lot and ask them to wait up and never made it back to the back again (distracted by chain issues.) so, sorry all, think i may have contributed to the slight disintegration of things... should have found someone to officially take over.
yesterday i couldn't walk up stairs, having buggered my knee walking barefoot over the pebbles to the sea. oh cruel irony.

awesome awesome ride ladies - thanks to everyone for a wicked day. only low point was losing my mate jess - which i totally feel guilty for - i should have waited for her when i saw that little left veer in the road. thanks to the girls who worked furiously on google maps to try to get them back to us. She's gutted she didnt make it to brighton but still pumped that she got as far as she did on good ole phillipee (the old green peurgot with shody brakes). She was going to meet us in brighton but the train from east Grinstead?? didnt actually go to brighton so it would have involved heading back to london and then another train to brighton. anyways despite losing Jess and julia - it was sweet ride. cant wait for the next one - defo up for cambridge. ziska - cheers for sorting out train tix i'll shoot ya a text shortly

Jayloo!
DId you know that Shel Silverstein's on Spotify reading his work? How awesome is that!
OMG! No! I thought he'd passed! But...that doesn't negate his being on Spotify. I have to look for that!

Sadly, he is dead, and has been for more than ten years.
Good writer.

Does anyone know what that bag rack attached to the saddle of one of the girls was? i think it attached just to the saddle rails? (sorry I didn't get her name)
im getting fed up of having a sweaty back! -
• #273
Teapots, can you remember what the bike was like? May help us identify which particular one of the many bag attached to seat options that were on display!
I loathe having stuff on my back, but if I ever go any distance in that kind of heat again I may have to suck it up and get a camelback thingumy.

I don't know who/which bike but it was a Carradice bag.
Depending on how much stuff you need to hold... that Topeak saddle bag worked fairly well for me, holds nearly 2L. I think I had about the same volume in my jersey pockets as well.

I'm sorry I missed this ladies... it sounds Epic (note the capital E). I was biking in Amsterdam with a bunch of superduper people though so it was still an ace weekend! Next time. Next time.
If we are helping the laydees with friendly tips,
er, Clara if you are doing London Brighton and only ate 'a whole can of Ravioli'
you need to eat more!
enjoy your rides
