  • Tyres will be changed, it's all I have for now, don't panic it's not for long -

Very happy with it - cheers Robb.

    golf clap

  • I'd rather stretch my foreskin around the rim than get all black Contis.

    Bum rim?

  • @hoops and teenslain

silver athena levers to come next year! I'm tempted.

  • centaur 10 speed will also be a good option for performovintage builds

  • pics of the basiclly finished raleigh banana!!!

  • Sweet

  • opinion of the day: Get black grips, black bar, black tires, black brake lever, lose the bar ends.

Some doubt has been expressed about mohican chang's provenance - not everything that appears as "next year's Campag" under his imprimatur turns out to be real.

  • really? so prototype pics or photoshop pics?

  • Possibly Taiwan knock-off pics is what I've seen suggested.

  • what frame is that?

sorry Adscan I've really no idea! Previous owner didn't know and nor did the owner before that- couldn't trace any further.. The only markings on the whol frame are "44333" on the dropout and "RCM" under the top tube. Anyone have ideas? It takes 27 wheels!

looks similar to my Carlton Continental. is the serial number on the outside face of the left drop out?

  • That's right, outside of left drop out.
When i took out the fork the steerer was still painted black so I think it must have been stripped back to the chrome at some point rather than re chromed (strange that they would chrome the whole bike just to paint it?!)
Would be nice to know what it is, could throw some decals on it!

  • Henners, can your missus fit a lot in her rear basket?

    :)

  • ew

  • I've just been offered this olympic bike in a trade for an old MTB I have.

can anyone tell me anything about the brand, is it worth looking into?

id been planning a full strip and rebuild into a fixed wheel, but dont want to invest the time in a gas pipe frame lol

all i could find was a frame being sold ages ago for £35? but thats all?

    You disgust me.
Her bike may be a bit too heavy, probably lose the rear rack.

  • Look fine for a fixed wheel bicycle, why not? just don't spend silly money on it, like colourful wheel and narrow handlebar.

  • What's your mtb. Olympics are pretty low end.

heres a pic of my mtb.

its nothing special, bought as cheap transport to university that I wouldnt care if it got nicked.

having said that it was £50 and has no rust and is in full working order.

thought I could swap it on gumtree for a neglected racing bike as a fixed-gear project.

look pretty battered, dont mind investing the time if theres a decent frame there, but not much point if its gas pipe galore.

Not really strange. I think that it would be normal to chrome the entire frame (and first the other layers underneath, nickel then copper I believe it is), then polish it. Then paint over the top as desired, it is probably easier than specifying which bits specifically to be chromed as per customers' orders, for each frame. Then the only bit of variation for the finshers is which bits to paint, which bits to mask.

I am totally guessing all of that. And I think not the case when only ends/dropouts were chromed, rather than chroming tubes or parts of tubes.
