If you're struggling head to putney and go to Holdsworth.
On a Saturday towards the end of the day this week- when most bike stores are at the busiest- happily accepted my request to remove some cranks and a BB which I didn't have the tools for.
I was amazed. -

Oh yeah, and more importantly NO you only need a puller to remove them. Putting them on is peasy.
So when you want to remove them and fit something else, I refer you to the above answer

According to Sheldon the TA track bottom bracket has a 111.5mm spindle.
You can get a 110/113mm shimano, or sjs have a 110.5 tange.
Holdsworth should be able to sort you out, but not many shops will have this info.
EDIT - Please ignore some of what I said above! I forgot that you have a geared bike... I don't know what BB you will need to get good indexing on the 5 gears... perhaps to the 115mm Sheldon used? -

fruitbat is the man you want, do not take them to BLB, just ask asm what happened
-

PM fruitbat. Indeed, BLB used an angle-grinder to remove my stronglight cranks, ruining them in the process.

Hi,
I have a crank puller with some weird french thread on it, that I bought years ago in France so I don't remember if it is for TA or old Stronglight because I had both on different bikes at the time... If you have no solution to your problem, PM me and we can try it... (Based in New Cross...)

Anyone near hackney / old st have TA crank puller i can borrow?
-
• #25
im in hackney/bow and have a stronglight puller for future ref (it seems most are sorted here now).
Anyone got an extra stronglight dustcap? One of mine fell off somewhere in the city :/
As some of you might know I have recently purchased the attached lovely classic stronglight cranks for my 1965 Bob Jackson. I now need to find the correct size crank puller to fit them. I am told this tool is quite rare.
DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WITH ONE?
DO I NEED ONE TO FIT THESE CRANKS?
IS THERE A CYCLE SHOP WHO WOULD FIT THEM?
I am desperate to get the bike back on the road! Very close to giving up and getting modern cranks installed instead!
Any further help you might have would be very gratefully received!
Thanks very much!
