You are correct.
The crap they are giving my gf about how they can't give her a microsim is amazing. She bought a iPhone outright and apparently it against her contract to provide her with a microsim....
My intuition is as her current tariff allows unlimited data, they'd "rather" her not using an iPhone. She told them she sold her blackberry and they told her what she had done was illegal.
