ALL ITEMS ARE IN BRISTOL

Viewing/Personal collection is welcome as quite a few have found and have been able to get other parts they are looking for at the same time.

MACLEAN ROAD BIKE c1960/1
Seat Tube (ctt): 56cm (22in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56.5cm (22.25in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 59mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
This is a very original Maclean road bike from c1960/61 - only the seatpost and rear gear are not original. To find road bikes of this quality and in this condition is unusual to say the least. Maclean (see http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/macleans.html for more details) were one of the pioneer light cycle framebuilders in the UK and were in business by about 1919. This frame is really exceptionally nice with lots of cool and gorgeous details. - see the top eyes and seatstay bridge stiffeners as well as the careful attention to detail with the Nervex Pro lugs. The chrome is very good on the headlugs and fork crown and will clean up nicely - its less good on the seatstays and chainstays - the paint is in very acceptable condition but has quite a few marks. It is equipped with Ambrosio stem and I would guess bars, Universal 61 centre pull brakes, Stronglight 49D chainset, Brooks saddle. The rear gear is a Campag Nuovo Record - I can replace this with a period Gran Sport if required. Wheels are the large flange Campag Record hubs without the Record engraving so from the correct period with period correct sprint rims. £325 SOLD
CONDOR AUDAX/RANDONNEUR FRAME c1989 Sportive
Seat Tube (ctt): 24in (60cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22.75in (57.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: sprints/700C with brake drop of 50mm
Frame tubing: Almost certainly Reynolds 531C
This is a lovely Condor Audax/Randonneur frame almost certainly from c1989 which has clearance for guards with 23/25mm tyres. Its very nicely built and detailed and has recently been repainted in red. With horizontal dropouts it will make a very easy fixed or singlespeed conversion. £135 SOLD
DAVE LLOYD ROAD FRAME c1980
Seat Tube (ctc): 54cm (21.25in)
Top Tube (ctc): 52.5cm (20.75in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 50mm)
Frame tubing: Probably Reynolds 531SL
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is an exceptionally nice early road frame from Dave Lloyd which probably dates from around 1980 and which I think is built from Reynolds 531SL tubing - it is much lighter than most road frames of the period. The chrome on the head lugs and forks is generally very good but that on the rear stays is not quite as good. The paint is very sound. It will make an excellent road bike - and comes complete with a Stronglight roller bearing headset in very good condition. The Omas BB will not be included as standard - but could be left in for an additional £20. £175
EDDY MERCKX TOUR DE FRANCE ROAD FRAME 1970s by Falcon
Seat Tube (ctt): 53cm (21in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Rear dropout width: 124mm
Wheel size: 27s, Sprints or 700C with brake drop of approx 68mm
Bottom bracket threads: English
Seatpost size: 26.2mm
This Falcon built Eddy Merckx road frame from the 1970s is in good useable condition and will make an ideal conversion. £49 SOLD
AENDE LO-PRO FRAME c1987
Seat Tube (ctt) : 56cm (22in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Rear dropout width: 125mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C front and rear (brake drop of approx 45mm)
Bottom bracket threads: English
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Aende frames were built by Pop Brathwaite near Nottingham - he specialized in TT frames. Unusually for a lo-pro it takes 700C wheels front and rear making wheel choice much easier. £125
FRANK LIPSCOMBE ROAD FRAME c1968?
Seat Tube (ctt) : 55cm (21.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 55.5cm (21.75in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 27s, Sprints or 700C front and rear with brake drop of approx 59mm
Bottom bracket threads: British
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is a really gorgeously made road frame which apparently by the frame numbers dates from 1968... It has Agrati rear dropouts without a gear hanger and has been very nicey refinished in British Racing Green. More details on Frank Lipscombe can be found at http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/builders/lipscombe.html And it will make a straightforward and very cool singlespeed or fixed conversion. £185 SOLD
KEN JAMES ROAD FRAME 1980s
Seat Tube (ctt): 59cm (23.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 45mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 Professional
This Ken James frame (Ken James bike shop was and I think still is in Ashford, Kent) is built from the lighter than standard version of Reynolds 531 Professional which was in use between 1983 and 1988 - thus dating this frame clearly to this period. Its a very nicely built frame which comes complete with excellent Stronglight roller bearing headset and Shimano cartridge bottom bracket. The paint is in virtually unmarked condition. It will make an easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £175 SOLD
ALLIN ROAD FRAME c1963
Seat Tube (ctt): 58cm (23in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57.5cm (22.75in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size:27in or 700C (brake drop 60mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Allin Cycles were based in Whitehorse road, Croydon for many years, This is a Stan Butler model from around 1963. It is very nicely built but does need repainting. Has horizontal dropouts so will make an easy conversion. £59 SOLD
TEAM BRITE MICRO LO-PRO TT FRAME Reynolds 853 c1998 built by Paul Donohue
Ex Chris Newton
Seat Tube (ctt): 44.5cm (17.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 52cm (20.5in)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 853
This frame is an ex Team Brite micro lo-pro frame that was ridden by Chris Newton around 1998 and is beautifully built from Reynolds 853 tubing. Paul Donohue’s works built all the Team Brite frames and they employed a tig welder who was truly superb - in my opinion he was just as good as the tig welders at Merlin who I had seen working back in 1994. Its a really gorgeous frame which would equate to about a conventional 21.5 in road frame and is designed for use with a long aero seatpost and aero bars of course. It comes complete as shown in the photos with its original bladed carbon fibre forks. £195
HOBBS SUPERBE ROAD FRAME 1947 Beautiful hand cut fancy lugs
Seat Tube (ctt): 61cm (24in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 110mm
Wheel size: 26in, Sprints/700C (brake drop 50mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
This Hobbs Superbe road frame from 1947 is in its original but rather tatty paint. Hobbs were one of the pioneers in hand cut fancy lugs from before WWII and the Superbe lug pattern was their development of this. This frame is very sound with one or two small and unimportant dents which would be very easily filled during repainting. it may have originally been built for use with 26 x 1 1/4in wheels but it does mean that it is ideal for use with 700C or sprint wheels nowadays which is much more convenient than most frames of the 40s built for 27s band needing deep drop brakes. It will make an easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £135 SOLD
