    dudes
    i'm having a pedal dilemma
my brand new build needs the perfect pedal/foot retension combo
my last everyday build i was using for about a year i was running SPD's
loved em, but hated that i couldn't just jump on my ride and go, really impractical sometimes, even though for longer-distances/touring i would never use anything but SPD's
before that i was riding with clips and straps - good at the time, but since using SPD's i just can't get my head around using clips again
so i decided to try using those lame Shimano A530 SPD's with the concave platform on the other side
    they're alright, but not great
turns out, i really like the platform side - the grip is good but not over the top, they're small, light, blah blah blah
SO then i rode my friend's bike the other afternoon and he's using platforms and double straps, and BOOM - it clicked. so i've decided that for this ride, that's the way to go

my question is this - i've done buttloads of research into getting the perfect set of platforms, but all of em just seem SO massive - DMR's, wellgo's, crank brothers, all that shit. to anyone's knowledge, are there any platforms out there similar to the size and shape of the 'non-spd' side of the a530's, and ones that i could run double straps through? for someone who is used to road pedals, these things are just way too big AND, without sounding like a dick, would just look super out of place on this new bike.

and yes, before anyone on here asks, i know what google is and i have looked everywhere... just value forum users' opinions!
