BIKE WEEK- 19-27 2010 June

In association with Brighton & Hove Council’s JourneyOn project MV presents a celebration of Bike Week between June 19-27 2010 – All events are FREE. This annual event consists of a series of gigs, films, fancy dress, photography and cycling to inform, highlight, and celebrate cycling in Brighton & Hove.
Sat. 19 June (12-5pm) Bicycle Alley
This year's Bike Week kicks off with Bicycle Alley - a full day of cycling action in Preston Park as part of the TakePart Festival of sport. Bicycle Alley will offer bicycle limbo, cycle challenges and chance to try out your cycling skills. The event is suitable for adults and children and for all abilities. We'll have our Bike Doctor available to give your bike a free health MOT, so why not come along with your bike? http://www.takepartbrightonandhove.comWed. 23 June (6-7.15pm)
Take a spin on the bandstand!
(Taster Sessions 10-15 mins drop in) Free spinning sessions outdoors.

There's a welcome return of our free bike breakfasts for those who cycle to work (or college!) and we've teamed up with Melting Vinyl again to provide excellent live music with each breakfast serving. There will also be a chance to have a quick health check for your bike from one of our free bike doctors.
· Tues. 22 June: Curly Hair: Instantly melodic playful pop at Loving Hut cafe on St Peter's Place, near the Level. (07.30-10am) http://www.myspace.com/wearecurlyhair· Thurs. 24 June: Mr Strachen & Miss Colvert: Accordion and cornet marrying a majestic melody a la Paris 1930's' at Brighton station - this is the first year we've hosted an event at Brighton station so whether you cycle to the station or take your folding bike on the train, don't miss out on a free coffee and croissant before you leave! (07.00-10am)

This promises to be a very special event where we're inviting you to visit our pop-up photography studio, dress to impress
(we have some fantastic costumes!) and have your photo taken with your bike. There will also be excellent live music from
Adam Davis, young impresario and his keyboards and The Hornblower Brothers, pocket size folk-pop and a free Bike
Doctor with freebies available. You'll get chance to take away a photo of yourself and some of the best images will be
used in this year's Brighton Photo Fringe.

Sun. 27 June (2pm) - Free film screening at the Duke of York's Picturehouse
A rare chance to see a free screening of Jour de Fete (1949), by Jacques Tati on the big screen. Tati’s first feature has been acclaimed as a milestone in screen comedy; full of elaborate visual gags which often evoke the great days of the silent screen comedians. It is also a satire on modern obsessions with speed and technology as a rural cycling postman attempts to emulate American-style efficiency.
