Does anyone think it would be worth Mal getting a degree in something? Is it expensive to get a degree over here? What's the cost per year like? I'm just thinking she could do some part time work whilst studying something/anything to improve her CV so when hiring starts again she has more chance.
You could have a look at Birkbeck's website, they have the prices listed against each course (works out cheaper than a normal uni) and most classes are evenings so fit around work.
They also do foundation courses for people that are completely new to the subject (like me and science) or have degrees that aren't recognised here. They also seem to be very good at supporting people who's first languauge isn't english, or have been through the english education system and haven't learnt how to spell or punctuate correctly!
