    Very sadly I will not be able to do this this year. Work. Can't afford a night without sleep. One reserve can move up. Have a great ride everyone.

    I'm going to start taking the fee for the coach in a few days, people will be emailed in sequence for it, those who do not pay their fee in a timely manner may lose their place on the coach to someone lower in the queue.

    The fee will be £7.50 and is all that you need to pay to cover the cost of the LFGSS coach and bike van back to London. Basically it's subsidised. £7.50 covers half of the cost of renting the coach and van, the forum is contributing 50% based on the fact that SJS sponsorship did run for 8 months or so and that future earnings from adverts will cover the cost of this).

    I'm expecting that not everyone on the list will come through as traditionally a quarter of those who say they will do something don't come through. So I hope that all of those who will attend on the current list will attend.

    I will basically work down the list in batches. Batch 1 will be 50 seats on the coach, and then subsequence batches will be in 1's until the coach and van is full.

    The arrangement for the night will be:
    1 full size coach to bring people back in the morning.
    1 mid size van to carry people's bikes back.

    We may (if demand is present and people want to pay £10 instead of £7.50) run a people carrier to provide a cold food stop and mobile water top-up facility. After that it would operate as a sweeper and emergency vehicle should it be needed during the night.

    Let me know your views on the idea of the sweeper and cold food stop.

    So I just decided, perhaps somewhat late in the day, to do this.

    Haven't done many long rides at all, just one down to brighton but felt all right after that so based on that, perhaps there's hope? Also just got back from 35 miles in Epping Forest feeling good. Though i realize it's quite a difference doing 35 daytime compared to 120 over night

    My plan is, since there's 4 weekends left before the dynamo, to get as much riding in as possible before that without running myself down. I'm thinking two long rides, at least 60 miles, and a few 30 milers in between. I'll probably be doing it geared since that should make things a bit easier? Or should i man up and do it fixed?

    Now, does this sound like a reasonable plan?

    And Joe, sounds like we're sitting in a somewhat similar boat, i'm more than happy to ride with you since i'll be on my own as well.

    Also, if anyone want to come along on the long rides in before let me know, I could do with some company

    Also @vb I'm not too fussed about the food/broom wagon thing - but if we are able to have a bag brought down (clothes/towel) that would be fab - I want to carry as little extra as possible (that isnt food)

    So I just decided, perhaps somewhat late in the day, to do this.

    My plan is, since there's 4 weekends left before the dynamo, to get as much riding in as possible before that without running myself down. I'm thinking two long rides, at least 60 miles, and a few 30 milers in between. I'll probably be doing it geared since that should make things a bit easier? Or should i man up and do it fixed?

    Now, does this sound like a reasonable plan?

    You'll be fine with that amount of training. I did the DD for the first time last year, and did less training than you're planning and managed it in one piece.

    2-3 rides a week between 15-25 and then one longer one on the weekend between 40-60, so you should be more than fine.

    The route's reasonable flat which helps. (I did it geared.) SS next year!

    If anyone is interested, a colleague is selling two DD coach tickets for £28 (or £14 each). She has decided not to do the ride anymore.

    @MG AFAIR Fiddy didnt ride back, I think we bundled him onto the coach with us - not sure he had a ticket ;-) Either that or he rode to Ipswich then got the train..
