Cricket players in general have some sort of common sense, football players in general have a lack of common sense and therefore can't be trusted to have a discussion with a referee without giving him a volley of verbal abuse or shoving him in the chest.
In general football referees are not shit, it's the rule makers that do not protect the referees sufficiently, the sooner FIFA adapts Rugby Union's stance on respect to the referee the better. You only speak to the referee if you get asked and otherwise you can go and f*ck off.
