  • Sorry man, but you've been fooled a bit. You should have read the thread more carefully.
But GBP 75.- is not that much, so no big problem.

  • Always beeing such a spoiler DC ;)

  • Sooner or later he'll find out what it really is.
Now he may still have a chance to get the deal undone, because the seller lied about the object.

  • ah that sucks, just when i was getting excited, but thanks for telling me. i've emailed the seller

  • well it seems i shall be free from july 15th onwards for the gazelle ride
shall we start getting some dates together
what sections of the journey can be done per day
i haven't even really looked at the route
where do we sail from ? to ?
could we hit the port in a days ride ? 100 miles per day sound ok am happy to do more but we need to cater for the group as a whole
maybe start a little list with names bike distance prepared to try per day etc

    1. dicki gazelle champion mondial fixed bivi bag for one ( and it only just fits one ) and small rucksac 100-120miles per day
  • I think Im gonna be cycling through Holland whilst youre doing this, sadly wont be on a Gazelle though.

  • Won't be in NL the 1st three weeks of july.
I can joint a bit if you ride during the last weekend of July, in August or even later.

Hoek van Holland to Dieren can be done in a day, but it's quite long. 160 km in a straight line, but a nice route is always longer. Consider to do it in 2 days.

Vlissingen to Dieren is too long, 230 km at least, takes 2 days.

Amsterdam (Schiphol) to Dieren could be a nice 1 day ride of 120 - 140 km.

  • I would definitely join you for half a day or something, only just got my stabilisers off, but it would be nice to meet some folk.

  • I've reduced the number of working collar bones in my body to one from two. I won't be riding anywhere in July :(

  • dear all,

Ive recently purchased this Gazelle A 70's roadbike of the forum for 200 golden nuggets. Im keen to get a firm indentification of model and year etc...

Im hoping as its been built up with Campag parts that its a good quality frame, its Reynolds 531DB so thats a start.

Counting down the days (3 more) till he lands on British Soil, dead excited, any suggestions for restoration.

Dicki are you the gentlemen riding the Gazelle Champion Mondial on the Southend, and Cambridge College jaunt recently?

    cheers

Short dropouts, so looks like an early AB.
A-frames have longer dropouts with eyelets.
No AA, because it has a plate BB-shell and no cast BB-shell.
    Definately a Champion Mondial.

    Damn Mark, how come??!

  • Took a spill mountain biking last weekend :(

  • I know I posted this in current projects, but..

  • That's beautiful dbr, well done! Have to admit the blue rims don't do anything for me and I far prefer drops over what's currently fashionable but this is just personal taste. That's a gorgeous ride you have there :)

  • I'm looking for some drops just now, as I do more long trips than I thought I would. I've realised it's too nice to leave outside the Albert Hein.

  • nice setup dbr - i like!!!

what pedals are you using?, they look tidy, and add to the vintage charm! would appreciate advice as bought a gazelle without pedals and these look mighty fine.

    ta

  • They are NOS spanish campy copies, €20 a pair. Not great build quality, but they look the shit. Adding some chrome toe clips and white leather straps soon. I can give you the guy's email address if you like, he has a lot of nice vintage stuff, but you would have to get them posted from the Netherlands.

  • some nice gazelles on maarktplaats currently
i had a serious look at the anniversary bike with nice athena gruppo but the guy seems to be stalling saying he thinks there is something wrong with the forks ? and it doesn't ride properly or something ?

and a real nice AA Super TT frame bit short for me but will fit plenty of people

i don't know if this is annoying anyone ? if i show the bikes for sale and you are watching these yourself i can delete if you need me to

i just thought it might be nice to share these bikes around
    dicki

  • That fork doesn't look like the original to me. I happen to have the original. NOS

  • hmm i wonder if i could get him to part with the frame only and build a nice campy record geared bike from it ?

  • I am not sure on what I previously said. It could be other examples I've seen hadn't the original...
