Totally off topic, should i turn my printer off or not.

The only solution is to buy a second, identical, printer and leave one switched on. Then after a reasonable amount of time - say a year - you will be able to assess the relative conditions of the two printers and be able to make an informed decision as to what to do in future.

As sad as it is, this is probably the only way to get an objective answer to this.
