Is that a stripped concor? Tell me that isn't the concor I traded with you Max. She was in lovely condition.

This cannondale thread is reminding me of the pink/stripped GT a couple of weeks ago.
Its his bike, he can do what he likes to it.
If someone bought my 1900s pathracer and did that I'd think it a shame, but the 'dale is only mass-produced American shit anyway, like the GT. -

just got round to taking pics of this... believe it's late 80s
the paintwork is pretty battered though so it will need some attention but otherwise it's sound.

My second fixed gear bike, the first I've put together myself. It's a polo/pub/ bike, so at the moment I've got 42/24 fixed and 42/16 freewheel for when friends visit me and need to borrow a bike.
I've put most of it together from bits I got from Town and Rik, only bought the pedals, straps, grips, tyres, inner tubes and lockring new.
In the long term I'll replace the saddle with a new royal blue one, and the seatpost with a black one, to match the colour scheme of the rest of the bike.

Yesterday my new frame arrived:
http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af216/georgemeadows/DSCF8016.jpg
Its a 1987 Columbus slx Romet track.
However, when i was putting a bb in, because i was using slightly the wrong tool, the grooves where the tool engages were worn down mid way through insertion, so how do i remove the cup? (i've since got the right tool-which doesnt engage in that cup now)Left (normal) cup:
http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af216/georgemeadows/DSCF8022.jpg
Right (worn) cup:

Nice, Nhatt's old frame? You'll have to get some mole grips or stick it in a vice probably... If it works, leave it in...

If you'd asked before wrecking it, we could have told you that the spline depth on those BBs is inadequate, even when you use the right tool. The interface was designed for steel components, and doesn't work for aluminium. If your threads are properly cut, the right cup should be easy to remove once you have the rest of the BB out, because it doesn't have a flange on the cup to resist unscrewing. That is a design flaw in the Miche BB which will come to your rescue now. Of course, if you didn't prepare the BB shell properly to start with, it might be tight, but it will be no loss to use a destructive technique on the BB cup since it was shit to start with and is completely fucked now. Cut some driving slots in it with a hacksaw and file and use a short piece of steel bar (about 30mm x 5mm will be about right) as a driver to get it out.

Stronglight JP400, uses the much more appropriate Shimano BB tool, £12 with steel cups http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b2s110p141 or £16 with Aluminium cups http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b2s110p140

Following the discovery that the left crank of the Vagacini was damaged, maryann said they would replace it with a similar crank or a whole crankset.
Could only find a shimano crank or an older campag set. I asked for the set and got sent both options!

Dibs on the Campag... ;D

Georgeexactly the same problem on my spare tourer.
both cups shredded beyond comprehension with the correct tool
Miche BB's are shit, never again.
God knows how I'll get mine out, I've left in there until it self destructs.
I'll have to , when the time comes drill it, and then with a screw driver and hammer the crap out of it until it relents to my awesomeness. -
• #30722
Drill two small holes in the sides of the cups and use a two pin style bottom bracket tool to remove it.
-
• #30723
turns out the Strada cranks need a longer bottom bracket. Here's the Vag with new tape, brake cables and double pivot brakes
with the BJ (shit photos)

Miche BB's are shit, never again.Unlucky... I can never understand everyone's problem with the Miche BB though. Mine is in, not worn, not damaged from installation, never unscrewed itself, been running for almost 2 years on 2 different bikes, still nice and smooth. I would buy another. I wouldn't say I was an expert on BB installation, either... Anyhow, not a dig at you, just a headscratcher for me.
I wish I lived on a boat.
