We have stopped the rot since we disbanded the Lilleshall school of excellence - a move to copy France and Germany (cause it worked so well for them....)
The emphasis being on local teams running academies, sadly they didn't realise the cost of english footballers is driven by greed so its cheaper to get them from abroad. if it wasn't for West Ham we would have been fucked over at international level a long time ago.
We just don't have the players, there is no natural talent. Spain have too many players who can change a game by dictating the pace, we have rooney who works hard and Gerrard who can dive and punt it from 40 yds.. pretty sad
