  • As for fixed gear, the court just rules fixed drivetrain as non-sufficient for braking mechanism and insists on two individually operated brakes besides that:

    They do argue in the verdict that it has to be expected to be in trouble and having to stop suddenly, and that doing a skid stop or slowing down is a considerable effort that isn't always easily manageable. The guy who brought this to court himself outlined that it took physical power to stop the wheels and therefore it couldn't be considered as safe.

    And Platini, I am pretty sure that a coaster brake would count, so "double caliper faux pas" isn't the right wording.

    In any case, german law works very different from english law. Things basically are written down to the precise voltage of the dynamos and shit, and that's one of the reasons why I won't go and live there again, because frankly it drives me nutz.
