Deal done. Pistoffski got there first, which is pleasing as it will be on public view. He paid the asking price BTW.
See it by a canal near you shortly! -

Route Canal? Nice one.

is it plastic or steel?

Tarboy, the rust around the holes is a clue there.

The screws could have left a trace of rust on the sign, so it doesn't tell me what the sign itself is made of.

having looked at his hand next to the sign ...I think Andy got all imperimetrics on us and meant 450mm square...????
Oh...and James...you probably are already as you worldly wise and all, however I have to say it...
Mount that f*cker high, with clutch head screws, When I lived ooop north and had a house, I once had a really nice enamalled champion spark plugs sign a mates dad gave me, it was probably 60 years old, someone hoisted it within 6 weeks of it going up. they would have needed a 6 ft ladder to touch it...meh! -

but you dont need to know, cos its Pistoffski's now.

i have a few of these signs(similar) if anyone wants them..slightly smaller and some french in italics at the bottom. ''pour le velodrome" from memory. just two fixing holes on the right angled bracket as well so very pinchable. i think i got them off the wall by going through the rusty fixing screws with an engineers punch..its not advised to drill extra holes either as this allows the weather into the enamel...
they are a bit tattier than the one pictured above but i would think a bit older maybe judging by the thickness of enamel and crackling in the glaze?free
pick up thursdays in spitalfields if we are there or i can post . i think you might have to pay for posting though, a couple of quid

@Pistoffski - nice acquisition, it'll look great at the shop.
Vintage French shop sign, showing M. Bibendum riding a racer and a roadster.
Very good straight condition, with wall-fitting holes.
Came off a bike shop in Loire region (legitimately!).
Approx 150mm square.
£60
Bringing to London Friday 24th June, or can post at cost.
