Spotted in Manchester...

Hi,

Spotted a buy on an orange bike with an orange/black wheel/tyre and a green/black wheel/tyre near Man Met this morning.

There's a fella riding a brand new fuji round curry mile wih no foot retention, brakless and always has his heels on the pedals. What a tool.

This tw*t may have been me, around the date you seen this person, is around the time I bought my Fuji track as a 1st time fixed bike, the off the peg foot retention was a nightmare so I removed it for a period before swapping over the Look Keo pedals from my road bike. Not sure about riding with my heels on pedals though :S Maybe while pulling away before flipping the pedal to the flat side. Its currently in this retentionless config since I swapped my Look pedals back to my road bike, then lost the allen key so cant get them back of.

Someone wheeling a brand spanking new fuji track next to Manchester Uni on Sunday, I waved but you looked blank. THE BIKE, THE BIKE MATE.

This will have been me, I think I actually remember this, was walking down near precinct with my girlfriend, as she doesnt ride, and someone on a bike waved, but wasnt sure if they were waving at me or someone else they recognised walking behind us or something.

Maybe some of you might notice me around, I ride a '09 Fuji Track, with TT bars & front brake.

still no excuse for brakless foot retentionless though, if i got into that situation i just wouldn't ride it untill it was sorted

I agree its a stupid idea! At the time I was keen to ride, but the retention was a nightmare, so I removed it, switching my Look pedals from bike to bike was irritating and didnt want to spring for a brake system when I knew I was going to put lo-pro bars on after the next pay cheque, hence having to replace the lever (although in hindsight, cost is minimal, I was being tight) so I rode brakeless for about a month.

Also spotted today, yellow track frame (old reynolds one I guess) with red lining around the lugs, around MMU also brakeless/no foot retention, tut tut. Should start a wall of shame, or something...

We should print those spoke-cards I've been talking about for ages. A checklist of what you're doing wrong for peoples bikes. Maybe a blank side for your own comments.

Spotted a new Charge Plug Freestyler down near Owens Park, and a GBH conversion (brakless) just afterwards. Both of them looking like they we riding a pipebomb.

I like how you can always tell GBH hacks cause they use those loud as fuck Omega rims.

no I bought it off here and he'd already stripped it and clearcoated it. I'm glad actually cause I dont really like the orange and grey scissor colours. I;m going to keep it like this and see how the clearcoat goes in terms of rust protection then go from there... quite fancy stickering it up too but I'm worried I wont be able t see the rust underneath then

If that's the same one I'm thinking about it was parked up outside all saints library every day for about a month a couple months back. Absolute death trap, definite contender for the wall of shame!
