You'll be absolutely fine if you get there at 8. Lots of people leave very early these days, though. On the last one, we caught slow riders until after Great Dunmow, and fairly fast riders after Sudbury. The advised start time is 9. I think I've mostly left around 8:30 to 8:45, but I'm sure there are people who leave at 6 or 7.
