I thought it might be the case that nylon ones slip because of how thin they are, and also because of nylon's lack of friction. I've got leather ones and certainly haven't noticed any stretch. That's probably because they're 2nd hand and reached their elastic limit long before I owned them. Never slip either. Just thought there might be some sort of advantage to them since they seem so popular.
