don't bother with them - they are poop.
i gave up after the (second) replacement gave in.
the wood just stops sticking to the glue.btw - you may have to wrap some sparky tape around the cork, to make it snug.

My advice would be to get some hope grip doctors - they are the bomb. Or, if you're going for the old-skool, retro, Harvester restaurant look, check out those made by Gilles Berthoud maybe?

toshi cloth bar tape come with rubber screw in plugs like the velox ones, but .. in .... white .......!

Just lost one of my brooks handlebar caps damn crappy glue. Do you know where I can get my hands on some of those 'Harveter Restaurant 'look' handle bar plugs?

They really are pants - the taper runs the wrong way so after a while they just fall out again.
Champagne cork in mine - the taper runs the right way (as in, it gets wider the further in it is, so it doesn't fall out again). Other side has a brake lever.

velox plugs. duh.
I have to fit a pair of these and they're extremely brittle, I remember being told that you need to soak them before shoving in, but can't remember in what, oil? water?
