Improving rubbish toe straps

  • im away from home at the moment and having to use clips/straps again after months on clipless.

my straps are fairly generic/cheap leather singles from planet-x.

the problem is that the clasp just doesnt grip very well, and i need to re tighten the straps frequently, especially after uphill out of the saddle efforts.

anyone know any tricks to make these hold better?

  • Are the straps going through the buckle the correct way. If you can alter the way they thread through so they are gripped at a greater angle it will hold more tightly.

Failing that moving where the buckle is can help, try and place it more on top of your foot.

  • I always had this problem in the pre-cliples era.
I decided to buy Alfredo Binda straps only and not the cheaper ones like Christophe and others.
