• #1012
it's fine just depends what way you go.
down the 217 is a bit shit but there are plenty of routes via back of kingston/ portsmouth road/ esher/oxshott /cobhamnot getting the train is for winners and heroes.
edit: i posted a nice route in one of these ride threads

urghs ... that whole stretch on guildford rd sucks a bit ... anyway, see you tomorrow
-
• #1016
Any chance of going earlier than midday?
Otherwise it sucks up your whole day?

^Dov, it's been mentioned earlier and will be discussed in the pub afterwards.

yeah, that bit is terrible. it's great very early on as you can get a fast uninterrupted ride but bit hairy in the afternoons when there can be a fair bit of traffic (and they drive pretty fast around that section). why dont you just cross it? eg after climbing staple la just go straight across down coombe la. might cut your loop by 6+kms but plenty of options playing around the hills sth of guildford rd if you want to stick to the same dist.
my regular loop crosses the main roads

Dov, this kind of forum ride has been always suck up the whole day, in here and in other threads.
Pascalo and Ralph, regarding the whole stretch, it won't be a problem if we'll single up, we passed there other times, yes in smallest sections, but i often saw other cyclists. btw I was aspecting complaints about that....

@ Ralph
I start to envy your solo riding.

I wish to issue a retraction regarding a previous statement. I have counted teeth, and then recounted, and the conclusion is that 23 on the back is plenty, and i should demand a refund for the two i thought i had but don't. See all of you tomorrow :)

@ 6PT
See all of you tomorrow :)
....mmm.....if you're still drinking the same chain oil as the other week that means we'll get to say "hallo" and "goodbye" then :-)

hey I wast complaining. I was merely suggesting
hides behind pascalo
solo rides can be boring, marco. thankfully had strong climbers for company on a couple of occassions.
-
• #1025
yes tika you're right
Ralph, I know! Actually you suggested a few times very nice bits, but I must move one and try different options; exploring involves good and less good experiments. Going down to Tanhurst with a mix-bunch has been much more brave than rolling on the A25. Cycling can be a risky business everywhere. That's my philosophy though.
Solo rides can be also freedom!
:)
Dov are you practising ventriloquism again?
