  • So in the non digital thread, lynx made a point about discussing different film types, formats and developing, so -

What is your favourite combination of -
    Format, film, developer.fixer

and if you have access to the rest - paper, enlarger/scanner etc

  • Last summer I shot hundreds of photos with 35mm hp5 and fp4 developed in ilfosol and some I liked and some not.
This summer is going to be an experiment of different film types and speeds, and I just got some rodinal as my ilfosol has gone bad - which films do you think would come out nicely?

I'm on the brink of buying a red filter and trying out the sfx film.

  • Oh, I thought this thread had to be about double glazing and extensions. ;)

  • I'd love to set up a darkroom at home. My bathroom is windowless, so would lend itself to this naturally. However, it's just another project I won't get round to. There was a brief moment when some people wanted to set up a forum darkroom, but it hasn't happened yet, obviously mainly owing to lack of premises:

  • That was me. It prooved impossible to find anywhere to it sadly.
I am setting up one at a friends house and have lots of really old but cool equipment to use from an old relative. Does anyone know what this is?

  • Haha, no.

With a view to contributing them to a forum darkroom, I picked up two things from Selimski a while ago that he wanted to get rid of when he moved. An ancient light timer (I think) and an enlarging meter. No idea what they're really used for and how they work, but we'd just have to find out. You're welcome to them if you want.

You occasionally see old equipment like this in charity shops. In most cases, it's probably still perfectly usable.

  • It looks like a print dryer to me

  • George Foreman grill?

  • Haha, no.

Cheers Oliver. There were quite a few people with stuff to donate to the forum darkroom, I'm still gutted it didn't happen. I don't think I'd use a meter to be honest and I'm good on the time front. Thanks anyway.
