Stolen bikes

  • Lots of parts went missing around East London yesterday, I lost a caliper, a friend lost a rear mech, etc.

I'm going back to glueing ball bearings, re-ordering parts is no fun.

Seems these petty thieves have aquired a taste for quality parts.

I bet they regularly check this thread to see if anyone is getting close.

Next we'll see one of their builds in currents projects.

If you like it, don't leave it.

'if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it.......lalala'

Sorry got lost in the moment then.

Reading this thread once a week should be a forum rule, I am so paranoid now i just dont leave my bike.

"Decoy" bikes will also be used to trap serial bike thieves. These have already proved successful in Bloomsbury and in Rotherhithe, where thefts were reduced by 35 per cent by a multi-initiative crackdown

  • Not aimed at you, just a general note to everyone to document their bikes, frame numbers, pics etc.

Agree it should be standard practice to post as much info as poss, so here we go with a proper effort with mine.

Make/Model: Klein Adept Comp full suspension.
Colour: Orange with bursts of yellow (see pic)
    Manitou forks
    Bontrager seat
New Shimano XT M771 Rear Derailleur (should be sparkling as less than 2 weeks old)
Frame number: CH0009076 on bottom bracket or drive side dropout (I forget which)

Stolen Sunday 30th May from Stoke Newington, Allen Road.

  • Shit, best of lucking finding your bike.

  • Can't we employ Max to hunt these bikes down?

    #jokes.

  • there needs to be a lfgss stolen bike line, so if someone sees what looks like a stolen bike, or sees a stolen bike, then it can immediately be posted here, or if someone gets their bike stolen they can tell everyone here, over the phone.

Jokes aside, I'd make a wicked bounty hunter.

  • Kona kula stolen in Brighton 2 days ago from a friend of mine. if anyone sees it for sale on gumtree or sites a-like please inform me. My friend would be happy to give a 80 pounds reward for someones good deed.

  • @fixado Anything unusual about this Kona kula, anything to decipher it from any other?

not really, except the grips that are different...having said that, just remembered, the handlebars are bike hut. other than that just like the one in the picture. these are really expensive bikes, any bike on gumtree for sale could be a lead.

  • Anyone lost a 2007 Lemond Etape or a Condor Fratello?

Ah damn, I've seen you around, your bike is lovely. I'm often around that area, will keep my eyes peeled. Might have been the local Shakespeare gang, check the old dodgy bike repairs shop just off Milton Grove, they might try and sell it to him.
